Now Resolved.

Thanks to the BF Mods and BF Community. You are an example for other forums to emulate.

Unless the guy is member here (no indication that he is), what's the point?

I suspect that very shortly I will posting his name / address / etc. this will give enough identifying information that you will know NOT to deal with him.

If this has no value to you then I am fine with that.

Its basically EXACTLY what knifehunt said:

He's giving us a heads up, not to deal with this guy, and get hosed too.

I don't presently know.

As an update, he did email me and apologize for his behavior. He also said he will mail my end back on Thurs. For now, I am fine to leave this ON HOLD while I see if he is true to his word. If not, then I post all personal details (making the BF username a moot point.)

I appreciate the heads up, there are no magical borders on the various forums. As long as you let the other party know of an existing thread so everyone gets a chance to tell their side of the story. I don't see anything wrong with cautioning members. Hope all us resolved shortly for you.

Well, that is good then. This thread, and similar on other forums, apparently achieved the intended results.

I have had several transactions with JTolly on the RED forum. They have all been good. Would be surprised if this doesn't end well.

Wasn't trying to be obnoxious. I just wonder about the parameters for posting this kind of thing on transactions that take place elsewhere. If the alleged n'er-do-well is also a member here, that seems clear enough. If not, I just wonder where the line is? Surely not every deal that goes sideways, with no apparent relationship to BFC, should be brought here on the chance that the bad guy may be a member. Maybe RevDevil could clarify?

Many members here are also members over on JD. ooitzoo gave us a heads up so those of us who are members there don't get taken as he did. Why would you even care? You obviously do not trade on these sites or you would give a hoot. It's apparent that you just want to stir the pot.

I do not see the problem with him giving everyone here a heads up. People are on different sites and it may save someone here a headache.

My question stands. Your opinion on it is of no interest to me.

Your question has been answered. I'm not sure why you would want to push the issue, or why you seem to have an issue with his post? If the mods feel it is unwarranted they will remove it. No one owes you an explanation.

I appreciate the heads up of a potential shady character/deal, yet HappyDaddy does have a point.

The GB&U is a great tool to use when researching who to deal with. At the same time, it is not a sounding board for every bad deal in the knife world. Lot's of folks are on JD, Instagram, Facebook, etc talking about and trading or selling knives. Should they all bring their issues here as well?

My point is, thank you for the heads up but as a member of BladeForums this post in worthless unless the guys name and address (or BF name) are posted.

He's just trolling...:p

My question hasn't been answered, and I'm not trolling. That accusation is just an intellectually lazy way of avoiding the question. I have no objection to this thread, per se. If it helps someone avoid a problem, that's good. But, I still don't know the parameters for when it is appropriate to post about non-BFC transactions. Is it when the transaction was on JD? USN? eBay? Armslist? Craigslist? Maybe there isn't a rule and it's all determined by context (nothing wrong with that either).

Lighten up Francis.

Edited to add - An additional issue is that, unless the "bad guy" is, in fact, a BFC member, we will only get one side of the dispute. (This is not to suggest that the OP in this particular dispute has given other than the complete story, but we know that isn't always the case).
