Many thanks to Ban for hosting the June 2008 San Jose "Chop Fest." I wasn't able to make the lunch at Sonoma Chicken Coop, but managed to get to Ban's shop soon after lunch ended.

I am posting all of the photos here. There are a lot, so please hold off for a few minutes so that I can post them all.

That looks one hell of a time you had there.

On a personal note was good to see the smatchet, been toying with the idea of getting one and this just made my mind up to pull the trigger on one.
 
If you scroll through them fast enough, it's like seeing a movie :) Chips flying and all....very nice shots.

It was even cooler being there!!! Norcal and Ban you guys ROCK!!!

+1! Ban and Norcal put on a fabulous event. Good food, good company and I had a terrific time chopping petrified 2x4s ;) :D

Some of those cuts are simply outstanding, Smooth.

Some of the pictures show just how mirror polished at least one of those knives are.

Very Nice pictures.

I do not see a smatchet. The one that looks similar is a Bark River Forester, unless I am mistaken.
 
That is outstanding guys!!! Great pics, and looks like a lot of fun. Voracious said it," look at the chips fly".
