June 2019 Buck of the Month - Released

I don't think you would want to put a carbon steel blade in an aluminum framed knife due to galvanic corrosion.

I've heard that can happen with Stainless and Aluminum too. I guess that's why Buck put a coating on the Aluminum

The Aluminum bolsters appear to be Ceracoated. The blade mentioned was CPM-154 which is stainless. If you managed to find a 52100 or 5160 blade and wore the Ceracoat off your bolsters, you could apply a little Never-Seez to the interface of the dissimilar metals. Galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals usually only occurs in the presence of moisture.
On this model it is very easy to check the progress of corrosion, remove the offending Oxides, and apply lubricants to the affected areas.

I have put all sorts of 110 blades in the 111 Aluminum Handles. That Aluminum is dead soft to enable it to be embossed (that means not many alloying elements in it). I have witnessed no corrosion between the raw Aluminum handles and the various blades, although I haven’t used said knives for salt water fishing.

That turned out good. One day when I grow up.:D

So it fits the regular 110 blade or is that a selector blade?

That’s a regular blade (with just a hole in it), but the handle will accept the old style Selector blades without a problem.

So most every 110 blade from the last 20 years or so will drop right it....wow!
Edit:: I pray the BCCI 112 will be the same as I have a old mirror polished Custom blade (440 maybe?) in a old brass frame with mediocre Rams horn I'll sacrifice..or a S30V or maybe a S35VN extra buildout or..

I have been wondering what one of these would look like with MOP scales. So I did some playing on Photoshop.

So what do you guys think? Besides that I'm not very good with Photoshop.
