Junglas BackPack

I need a new pack. But i need more of a day pack. Still thinking and looking around.

Glad your feeling better.

Another thought about the upcoming version;

How about a vinyl/rubber bottom? The Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon has a bottom like that (as do a lot of old European rucksacks) and it's good for keeping the pack dry if you've got to put it down in the snow or otherwise wet enviroment. It would probably wear better in the long run over cordura also. Instead of a single drain port on the bottom, two could be placed on the very bottom of each side.

I love my Maxpedition Falcon II, but would like to try one of those Junglas packs.....

I got the Pygmy Falcon II and Falcon II after a few years of wanting them, but after getting them I'm just not loving them, so the search continues. I'd like to see more pics of this one, including internal shots of the compartments.
Jeff, one suggestion that comes to mind, especially since you spend a lot of time in the tropical jungles where there's a lot of rain, is to maybe add a small Velcro-sealable pocket at the bottom of the pack with a tuck-away rain cover. I have one on a couple older packs and they were great for keeping out rain and snow.

BTW, glad you're feeling better!

Here are some more pics of the Junglas pack incase you have not checked http://www.eseeknives.com/laserna-pack.htm

LOL, thanks, don't know why it looked different to me in this post. Yep I've seen the pack pics on the ESEE site.

Ever tried TAD Gear, eberlestock or kifaru?

I've looked at some of those but they're too rich for my blood. I've heard nothing but great things about most of those but can't justify several hundred dollars on a backpack. I'm not in the military, law enforcement, etc. My packs are used mainly as EDC packs, with the odd trips to the cottage, vacation, etc. I want strong and durable but don't want to go broke getting it!

I like the pack like it is ....need more Izula gear/pouches to go with it though

I second that :D

Also if I can add one suggestion for a mod. For skinny a$$ people, the belt minimum circonference is to wide. It doesn't tie around the waist and therefore doesn't help support the weight. It's all on the shoulders. Just a thought

That's because you Frenchies drink too much wine and stay skinny. You need to drink more beer like the Germans and put on a few pounds. :) but I can sympathize with you Monsieur. Mike

I agree the waist belt has to be able to adjust smaller.

In regards to the waist strap for the Junglas, DAKINE heli-pro backpacks have good waist straps. They are padded and adjust to a fairly small waist size. Their waist straps are the best out there for a backpack so far. It would be good to look into a similar design, but with PALS or attachment points on it. Sadly the only time you can find nice padded waist straps are on full size backpacking packs.

I'm on a kick to get my wind back after spending a long time battling bilateral pneumonia and pericarditis. So, I've been hiking almost every day for a couple of hours with a loaded pack, raind or shine.

Damn, Jeff. That's insane. Inspiration for my fat ass to get back on the trail in this weather.

I am trying Mike :D I can eat like two starving red necks and still won't put on weight!! ;)

Will try beer on top that might do the job

Nope. I had been quit for 2 1/2 years then started back but now quit again for the last 3 months.

I here you brother, I've been trying to quit myself and its a real bitch.

Glad to hear 3 months, I'm next....

I'm not really addicted to the nicotine, it's the physical act of smoking that's addicting to me so it's always been pretty easy for me to lay them down. In fact, it's very hard for me to get addicted to any drug such as Caffeine, alcohol, etc. I hate for anything to control me and thats' why I have never had any long term luck with women.
