Junglas destructive testing video

i'm uploading it to youtube for you guys. hopefully the r.a.t/rowen folks won't mind otherwise i'll take it down. give me a few minutes.

eta: can't upload it. youtube says there's an unknown error around the 91% mark. tried it three times. sorry.

View it with VLC. It's a free program and it plays ANYTHING.

I'm glad to see the Junglas do so well in the test but those guys are idiots not clamping down the blade someone could have been really hurt. I can't believe the camera man said it was a safe test? I wonder if the Junglas was clamped tight in the vise would it have flexed as far? I think it allowed a slight advantage being it was a allowed to flex in the vice. With all this said it is one tuff SOB!

Clamped tight or not. I was looking at an easy 90 Deg. on my screen. For the thickness it is, 1095 (and I own a ton of it) doesn't EVER bend that far before breaking. Never.
Shon has his sh*t tight!!!
I'll be buying 10 of them as soon as they are more plentiful online as gifts. I can't stand giving a friend a knife when I'm not confident in it but this one looks like a winner.
ROWEN 4 PRES.

can this video be embedded in this thread? I for some reason cant view it. I dl'd the software it says it requires but i get nothing. I'd really like to see this if anyone could post it here.

The Money Shot!
This is the last frame just before the blade broke.

I just had to watch this one more time for my morning entertainment. That is some tough 1095.

A lot of folks have mentioned safety and scary.
I would like to point out that not having a knife this tough in a survival situation would be a LOT more scary and unsafe.
Wow I really want one now!

I had to get the Wife to watch the vid,the whole time saying I really need one, don't you think.Well, that and a HEST.Just gotta order both at the same time,oh,and a Imasca too. Then I'll be all done buying knives-LOL.

"I can't believe the camera man said it was a safe test?"
I was being a smart ass... we do that occasionally around here:D

"...those guys are idiots not clamping down the blade someone could have been really hurt."
The very nature of what we do is dangerous. We work around extremely powerful and dangerous equipment every day, but we do take precautions that you cant see in a zoomed in 14 second clip.

"I wonder if the Junglas was clamped tight in the vise would it have flexed as far? I think it allowed a slight advantage being it was a allowed to flex in the vice."
I would be happy to break a few more with the vice tightened if you would like :D

I will jump in and say that you should send it to me and let me try.
You should send it right away but I will be unavailable to perform the test for a little while... I might be able to do it in a few years! LOL! :D

good answers Shon!
I'm going to have to do some qualitative/quantitative testing of my own this weekend - if it doesn't rain again...
muahahahahaha!!!!

Please don't! I know why you guys need to test your products, but it's painful to see well made tools destroyed, like when musicians smash their guitars.

I enjoyed the vid but I don't think I could take seeing 3 more beautiful knives destroyed!

You can probably tell I can't bear to sit through any more of Nos's videos. :)

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought given it had no scales that the blade was not sharpened - addressing the safety issue.

If you are taking request for hard test Mr. Rowan, I'd like to see a couple of hard chops of the edge on hardened steel then a close up of the edge deformation. Specifically, whether you get a roll or a chip. I suspect, you'll roll as it has happened at a micro level for me on my RC-6, but that would be another great demonstration of the toughness of the blade.

Sorry I must have just thought "man this is not very safe" and didn't get the humor of your statement.

So you are saying that all precautions were in place? Not trying to get in your business but I was just referring to the pieces of Junglas that went flying around the area.

Yes- thanks for the offer I would like to see one more test with the vise tight on the blade. Or maybe I missed some more humor?

Wow! Amazing and awesome. I want one more than ever now. Just scored a 4 off the exchange and have already used it for food prep. It's my third ESEE (izula is my EDC and I have a hest too). I'm IMPRESSED every time I use them at the quality, edge retention, simplicity, and functionality. They get used over many customs I own.
THANKS FOR MAKING SUCH GREAT, AFFORDABLE KNIVES!
