Junglas destructive testing video

Good to see that these knives won't fail under any normal circumstance, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere in that building when that blade snapped. The piece that was held in the vice was particularly worrisome. Where did it end up?

Cool test, but again, I wouldn't want to be around when it was happening.

We could, and have done blades that will bend over 90deg without the edge cracking over 1/2 the width of the blade. However, it takes allot more time. Therefore allot more cost. That is not our goal. Our goal, is to build a very well made tool, that will last a lifetime if taken care of properly, and that the average guy or gal can afford and use.;)

That is why I buy, and trust ESEE Knives. !

We destructive test knives all the time from our batches. We just don't post it up on the internet all the time. As far as being "dangerous", the very nature of what Randall's Adventure & Training / ESEE was built on is dangerous. We're not just knife designers/manufacturers that sit behind desks all day and try to sell a product to the public. Our whole business model is built around dangerous activities. One of the first things we tell our jungle students when they apply to go to our class, is you WILL INDEED most likely DIE if you get a hot snake bite, a stick through a femoral artery, etc, where we go since it will take days to evac you out of the area. Furthermore, we go to the hot zones our knives are being used, such as FARC cocaine labs where operators are using machetes and weapons to take out the bad guys activities. In fact, I'm headed to Afghanistan and Somalia this year with Pelton since it gives our company a better perpscpetive of what's needed in hostile and remote places. True, a piece of the Junglas balde could have killed someone but I know Shon enough to know that while he will take chances, they are calculated risks, not some hair-brained, off the wall "hold my beer and watch this shit" type of stunt. ;)

Ha ha I love that line. I'm sure it's very true, also.
I'm sure it's not the first blade they launched across the room. After a while you know where they are going to go ....... most of the time

I wonder ow many would buy an Apocalyptic Zombie killer?? Unless the co$t is alot more. PPL buy Busse because they seem unbreakable. There is a market.
.300 1095???

Because of this video I just order one from tacticaldefender.com. Can't wait to get in my hands for use in my upcoming trip.

That's where I got mine, too - good communication and fast shipping.

Wouldn't all tempered blades brake like that?? I'm just tryin to guage the toughness off the 1095 @ it's breaking point???

I am not surprised at all. I knew Rowen produces a different class of 1095 just by using the knives along side other knives of the same steel. Better is just better and as a customer I have the right to point it out.

I'd much rather see it tested by NOSS at http://knifetests.com/ and see a thorough destruction test. He did a great job on the RC-4 and showed what a tough SOB it is.

That was like a few seconds of a Cold Steel video where they bend their blades with cheater bars, but don't break. They don't go that far though.

In all fairness he bent that sucker about in half before it broke.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You have two guys there who are insanely lucky they were not headed directly to the hospital. Next time, clamp the freakin' knife in the vise and cover it with a towel.
