Just Arrived! Polished Aluminum Leightweight 110 Folding Hunters!

Totally intrigued by this one, makes me wonder why this hasn't been done before now. Any plans to add a drop point option?

This was done. Buck brought out an aluminum handled 110 in 1981, with the Classics series. A dressy model 111 with pressed / engraved handles a tooled leather sheath with polished blades. DM

^You're right of course, I should have been more specific. I knew of the classics with the engraved handles, I was actually referring to a standard 110 frame style in aluminum.

I always wondered why they didn't re-release the 560 in aluminum as well. That would have been almost as good as the titanium, certainly less expensive. Love my 560.

Really good question Blue Sky.
One thing that I noticed carrying my pawnshop sourced user Classic was that it turned my hands black with use. Aluminum oxide. Polishing didn't help. Anodizing would have eliminated the blackening issue with raw aluminum that gave me the fidgets.

I think oregon put his finger on the problem, and the solution.

Not sure how long wax would hold up under use, maybe a hard carnauba-type might last? Renaissance wax?

That is interesting. I work with cast aluminum every day and don't notice black hands or gloves. I wonder what alloy the classic series was made of.

I carry a Classic 111 often and never had any issue with black hands either....Nice new 110! I may get one!

Here is a side by side to a nickel silver 110 for color reference

I think that both of your knives are really pretty!

Thank you for posting about the new one and showing them next to one another too.

Cate, your welcome. Buck calls the blue, indigo. T6 (6061) aluminum is very hard and strong. Add the anodized coating and it is a wear resistant material. DM
