Just Arrived! Polished Aluminum Leightweight 110 Folding Hunters!

Lucky number 013 arrived yesterday.Good thing I'm not superstitious, lol!! Action was a little gritty at first, but after a little clean and lube, all is good. I really love the lightweight feel.It makes a hell of a difference IMO. Pocket carry just got a whole lot easier. My digital scale says 4.10 oz,so a significant weight reduction.I would like to see this one with a drop point.

I'm really interested in a 112 version and will be 1st in line for that! I think this is a major step in the evolution of Buck folders and will be the start of many different varieties of lightweight 110's to come. There will always be interest in this first series and I have a feeling it will be collectable. Good to see there numbered. I suggest you make the next run really special with premium steel or maybe a drop or spear point with upgraded handle material. The tactical guys love urban camouflage and blade coatings . I'll be glad to prepay now for any 112!

Okay , I'm on board.Light weight aluminum frame,droppoint blade,no nail nick ,112, premium steel.Scale material,I am wide open.

Is this going to be in the regular Buck 110 line? Buck might find it very popular and add it to the custom shop options even if it's a high price one. I wonder how the bolsters will take engraving? I hope Buck runs with it because it is a real step forward. .

I received mine today, number 017 with black paperstone scales. This will serve as my backpacking folder. Very light weight!

They do look nice.

I've already swapped my leather sheath for nylon and that compliments the light weight package.
Funny, I did the EXACT same thing as soon as I got home. Not only lightweight but I hike and backpack in the Northwest so I was thinking moisture retention. Leather tends to stay wet for a long time, no good in the back country! The nylon sheath is perfect and more low profile too.

I really like the lightweight of the polished aluminum but I don't know how well it will hold up. Salt air is hard on aluminum for sure.

You all finally got me hooked with your posts and photos. Ordered my paperstone model last night

I've had my wife order a couple of Bucks from Copper and Clad in the past. Now she has been getting email or text notifications from them.
The other day out of the blue, she said she got a new message from copper and clad about a new lighter Buck 110 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Christmas!
Copper & Clad is great!!!

Amici,
I have two questions about this new version of the 110 here goes:

1-do they leak light?
(Meaning more than a few of my current Buck 110's when held up to a light, shows noticeable gaps between the liners and the back spring. when I try this with either a custom shoppe or an older made 110 circa 1991 - 1996, this is not an issue).

2-Being made from Aluminum, does this mean that the metal is softer than brass?
(Brass is a very soft metal, and easily scratches and dings up if mishandled, I have found that Aluminum is even more so prone to this).

That's pretty much my 2, very curious on the replies.

Cheers,
Serge

If Buck is using 6061-T6 which is what I think they use on some of their aluminum framed knives; it won't be an issue.

When someone says "aluminum" we automatically think about soda cans and foil. Buck uses aluminum on several knives already and it holds up quite well. The Marksman is a very good example of this. Before changing my handles from the aluminum to G10, it showed little signs of wear other than the anodized finish wearing.

I just have to say again how awesome these lightweight 110's are! I've tried carrying a 110 in my pocket many times and they have always just been a bit it too heavy. With the lightweight I've been able to carry with no problem every day since I got it. We'll done C&C! Keep 'em coming!!!!

Received my paperstone 110 today, #015 and could not be happier. Rock solid lockup, centered, sharp and man is it light! I ordered another knife and when I got the box I thought for sure not all my order shipped as it just didn't feel heavy enough. To my surprise everything was there, the new 110 was just so light it seemed like it wasn't there. Great knife. Thanks to Buck and C&C.

Those ought to sell. However, there's something about the classic Buck 110 in brass that just appeals to me, and I like the reassuring weight in my hand. Waiting delivery on a 112, brass frame, with S30V blade.
