just bought my first benchmade

I have tried a Benchmade grip and mini grip. Ended up returning them both. Felt cheap in my opinion.

There are other scales availible.

My Mini with Wilkins scales.

it's the scales that feel cheap right

and I hear that the quality of the adamas is above some other BM knives

I like Benchmades. These two are my newest. 755MPR and 806-1101 AFCK (Mutt and Jeff) Both have M390 blade-steel.

I have carried a mini grip around the farm for about 5 years and it shows some wear but i really like it. Busted the tip, (my fault) and lost it through a snowblower. I think it is time to replace and probably be another Benchmade.

i would suggest going for a adamas . i bought mine for 125 bucks from GPKNIVES

my knife will be here tomorrow and i will post my initial thoughts . maybe even a unboxing video for you guys

ITS HERE AND I LOVE IT!

i spent about 10 mintues just looking at it and i plan to stare at it more. i am so happy res1cue suggested the adamas because of its weight and solid feel the fit and finish are perfect and i am noticing that all those details that make CKC knives so eilite are here on my 275. the butter smooth opening the perfect symmetrical grinds the dead center blade rest the heft the razor sharp blade everything and how much you want to bet i can beat on this more than a ckc knife i look at a sebenza and the tip looks fragile. and to top it off the 275 has a better lock and like some people and there CKCs i am not let down with my benchmade on first impressions

pics coming soon

SilentJohn, I am really glad you are so happy with it. Im glad you didn't go with the Warn (I guarantee you wouldn't have been as pleased!)

This knife hasn't left my pocket since the day I got it

thanks man i really do enjoy the knife. and i love that its so easy to open i dont even have to do a wrist flick, a quick shove with my thumb and it glides open.

i really think this is going to dethrone my cold steel ak-47

Yep and on top of it, the D2 blade is made out of pretty thick stock, so it is plenty strong. Also, due to the width of the blade, the saber grind provides a surprisingly thin edge. I've got mine at 28 degrees inclusive, no microbevel, stropped to a mirror finish, and it cuts like a lightsaber!

i agree i push cut some paper and started laughing

i dont get why you would spend 400 bucks for a bare bones knife that in the end isnt anything special. i hear guys talk about the elegance of the sebenza but all i see is a over priced name brand i say keep your fancy cheeses and aged wine and i'll keep my hot wings and beer because i am anything but a steel snob

hell you couldn't pay me to carry a ckc because i dont trust the build on that knife

Congrats on your first Benchmade. I just got a new one in myself (950 Rift), which I'll be reviewing soon. That's a fine piece of work. Benchmade was my first love in terms of folders.

What's a ckc? (a CRK?) Unless you've never owned and used a Sebenza, you really shouldn't go on like that. I loved the ones I owned but for "personal" reasons, I sold them. They are at the top of the heap, along with Hinderer and Strider for mid-tech knives. Not trying to get in an argument but they are very, very good folders. ;)

Back to the Benchmade, I'm lusting for one of the all black plain edge. I just may sell one of safe queens - a 940 or 710 to finance one. Congrats, and btw, Benchmade D2 is no slouch. Very tough steel.

i hope. i've seen videos of a kid batoning and chopping with the 275. and i plan i using this knife

thing is i got the bug now and i am already eyeing the 860 or a 741 but that wont be for a while. the 275 is a potent drug that is going to keep me in the ether for a long happy time and seeing as this is my first really high quality knife that cost more than $100 i am a very happy dude

here are some pics i will have 1 or 2 more take with me using the knife

this is my edc stuff. this pic shows of the texture of the g-10 pretty good

i'm starting to think orange g10 scales would be cool to make it go with my watch and flashlight

Really glad to see your joy with this knife. I carried my all black from the end of January until this past Saturday when the Spyderco Vallotton and 275BKSN came in, and now the BM has taken up residence in my pocket. With all the other knives I have, including a few customs, this knife just appeals to me on a level that I can't really explain. And of all my regular edc's, this is the least expensive of the bunch!!

I am waiting for my plain edge BM 810 Contego to ship, and I think it will be a real winner! Knock the 275 out of my pocket?? It will have to be one more super knife to do so at the moment!

Again, congrats on getting yourself one hell of a knife!:)

go for it. but I don't know why the contego doesnt really speak to me

the bedlam on the other hand brings out the 14 year old mall ninja in me in an really big way

My most recent arrival is an 810SBK. This is one great design that should do well. Ergos are excellent, one of the better setups I have seen from BM. The deep finger cutout in the front had me unsure what to expect, but it really makes for a great feeling grip. Added to the ergos is a lot of grip from the scales. Most Benchmade G-10 is either ground smooth, machine textured, or exhibits the discreet texture of the woven underlying material. In contrast, the 810 scales have an aggressive peel-ply texture combined with their excellent machine worked textures. A substantial bonus is the standard use of CPM M4 steel on these. The blade is thicker than most other BM's as well (almost as thick as the 275). I still love my 275, but the 810 is tied with it right now for favorites. In hand, the 275 feels every bit the nearly 8 oz. beast that it is. It's just one solid, well designed knife that fills my hand well. In contrast, the 810 is a bit longer, slimmer, but feels lighter than it actually is. Different feeling knives, but no clear cut favorite for me.

^^^Waiting for my satin plain edge to be shipped. I really liked the Contego from the first time I saw it. The blade is .157" thick, and the 275 is .160" thick, according to the specs from BM. Anyway, the 810 is a knife I'm looking forward to getting.
