Just finished making my first knife!!

So your first post on the forum is questioning someones honesty?
I'm starting to question everyone's honesty on this thread, anyone who makes knives should know its takes a couple of years practice to make a knife like that. Anyone who would believe this is someone's first knife doesn't make them.

i dont know what to tell you dude, im 18 yrs old, and yes thats my first knife, my second heat treat since my original failed, my second time using belt grinder, first time making a spacer, first time making a guard, the handle is rosewood from jatagan com and so is the knife steel, i made spacer with little files my dad has, handle with larger files + saw and belt grinder, belt grinder is 45€ which me and my dad upgraded, the only part where he helped me was in buying that parkside belt grinder and giving me stainless steel guard chunk which i shaped with the same files and belt grinder. I watched every single Kyle Royer video there is, same as for RedBeardOps, Tyrell Knifeworks tutorials for coke bottle handle, and Jesse Hu's videos, if you dont belive me then dont i guess..
Here i guess i should have posted these pics of work in progress aswell, theres a pic with spacer being still a little cube without filework same for guard

If that really is your first try and you keep doing it you will become better than Kyle Royer.

I started working on a bbq knife for myself with hamon, third attempt since my first two failed
It was gonna look way cooler but i fuked up the spine so now it looks boring, original design was that of MKC Little Bighorn Putty

Are you learning from the mistakes? That's what it is all about...... More knowledge....👍
Looks good. Keep up the good work👌

Well I find it weird that G GMTKSU has 4 total posts. All here. And started with putting a young kid down.

Man that looks amazing. Definitely keep at it. Be cool to buy a blade from you one day!

And as for “it doesn’t look like his first time” because he went in educated. He didn’t run off blind. He studied the process and followed examples left by those more seasoned.

I’m a guitar player. Have been for nearly 20 years. 5 of those professional. I decided to make my own a few years back. And man. I did very similar to what M mihaelx has done. I watched videos of the process. I put the time and study in before I even touched wood. And the guitar is not only one of my go to guitars. But is actually very nicely done. And get compliments from people who see it or play it.

Anyway. This isn’t about me. Congrats on the knife my man. Looks killer! Don’t let the negative people shoot you down.

Wow amazing mihaelx - well done !
I started making knives in a forge in Yorkshire when I was 15 - initially I made horse-shoes and nails etc after helping a village blacksmith for 3 years.
My first knife was not a patch on yours - very uneven and rough looking - so I`d be very proud of yourself !

M mihaelx I just saw your thread now. Let me say that what you are making looks very nice and I think you have the potential to become a world class maker.

If I may offer a friendly suggestion, I'd invite you to consider the increased user friendliness and safety of a slight modification like this:
