Just getting back into knives…..

Thanks but the Endura doesn’t meet what I’m looking for. Don’t like FRN handles and the blade is too long
They're not all frn!

But if it's not your flavor .. how about a para 3 ?

An update: I went ahead and ordered a Civivi Elementum as previously mentioned, and I also just ordered a Ritter Knifeworks exclusive Mini RSK. I had a mini grip before and liked the lock and knife overall so figured I’d give the newer version a try even tho it’s a different maker now. I’ll update mid week with pics and impressions once received

As far as I'm aware, there's not too much better for around 150 than the WE Kitefin. I don't love the colors in g10, but that's just me

I don't know if this fits your bill for a "nicer" knife or not, but the Kizer Sovereign, I find, is a really comfortable and solidly built knife for the price point (g10 and n690). MSRP is $110, but I've seen them for $40.

If you wanted to go back to Civivi again, I could recommend the Wyvern Flipper. Comes with a rounded g10 handle, dragon scale texture, and d2 steel. Amazing ergonomics, I think. But it is a $55 knife.

I had a Kizer Gemini before and it was an excellent knife

There are a bunch of Civivi knives I could recommend for regular every-day use. Also take a look at the more premium offerings from WE. My wife gave me a WE Snick for Christmas and I am very happy with it.

I might share in some of your feelings about handle materials. Micarta is my favorite, followed by wood and G-10. I downright hate aluminum. Titanium is warmer and can be nice, but I usually like it paired with an overlay of something else. For instance, the Micarta balances very nicely with the titanium on my Snick.

Of course, if you are "rebuilding a collection" and want something special, Kizer has a limited edition Gemini available on their website. You get a spare overlay for swapping and it comes with a free "mystery knife". (I'm guessing it will be one of their Vanguard knives in N690 but who knows?)

Just recieved a Hogue Deka, and have zero regrets!

That said, along with the deka, the Doug Ritter RSK is also high on my list, I'm just holding out until the larger version comes out with new scale options to fit my fancy.
I 2nd thus. The Deka is stellar. I also have a mini RSK and like it as wel

That’s a cool looking gift for sure

I just fixed a funky typo up there.

The WE Snick was a Christmas gift from my wife. This might not be the best picture but I took it for the Christmas Knife thread.

Having just sold off my Spyderco Kapara and a couple of other knives, I decided to pull the trigger on that special edition of the Kizer Gemini. I wonder what my mystery knife will be...

That Gemini is pretty. But I don't have the willingness to buy it right now. Not after my time on BF just convinced me to buy a We Kitefin, Balaenoptera, Ltd. Seer, and Ltd. Upshot.

ENZO Birk 75

Seems like a lot of knife for the price
I own this knife and would agree as she’s a little thick on the handle and with basic steel at this price point however, she’s an excellent slicer and feels good in hand. I paid $119 on sale about a year ago.

Yea I have that on my watchlist. It’s a nice option

Not folders, but IMO everybody should have a small, pocket sized fixed blade. Kydex sheath is nice too. IMO Bradford makes the best small knives for the money. Cool steels too.

Hello all. I have had this account for a few years but haven’t used it much as other things in life took me away from collecting knives and having time to enjoy this hobby. I use to have a nice collection IMO but over the years 1 by 1 I let them go as I just didn’t have time and could use the funds to buy other things I wanted. Well things have changed and now I have plenty of time on my hands and would like to build my collection back up. So I thought I would get some ideas for the 1st 10 folding knives I should buy to start a rebuild. Let’s start with knives under $150. I’ll list a few requirements for the 10 folding knives, things I know I like or don’t want etc. Here goes:

1) Blade 2”- 3.5” max

2) No FRN type handle scales

3) Not interested in traditionals

4) No front flippers

You can give 10 ideas or simply 1. All recommendations welcome

Thanks

You have made solid choices with the Elementum and mini RSK. I like smaller knives for EDC, also. If you were possibly considering an automatic, Kershaw has their Launch series. You can find something fitting there. It’s a bit over your price range, but Benchmade has the newer Mini Osborne 945, with both aluminum and G10 options. A bit under your price range is the Kershaw Dividend. You may be able to find one with an upgraded steel and handle material. Within your range is the Benchmade Mini Presidio 575-1, with carbon fiber elite handle scales. It’s a composite material, but lighter and stronger that standard polymers.

You could also stick with a few classics, like the Para 3 or Mini Grip and get aftermarket scales. The aftermarket for scales is much larger than it was several years back. Good luck with your journey. Personally, I would bump that price range up to a bit over $200, and get fewer higher quality blades. A few online retailers have exclusive Bugouts and 940s with G10 handles and upgraded steels (M4, 20cv).
