How does the handle feel on the Hogue? I've looked at that knife, and thought it seemed to be a great deal, with some real quality, but for some reason I always imagined that the handle would feel cheap. I haven't held much g10 that I thought really reflected the quality of the knives it was put on. For example, with my Civivi Wyvern Flipper, it feels like it should be lower quality than it is, because (I think) the g10 really detracts from it.
I plan on getting nicer knives as time goes. Since I’m just getting back I don’t want to spend that much right away until I see what’s out there etc. Plus I still have 3 other things I collect and money only goes so far unless I want to give up other collections I have, which I don’t.Owen had the same idea as myself. I have owned 2 XM-18's and not impressed positively with either one. I would suggest large CRK 21 or Classic or Regular model...over the 31.
The others look pretty good and you won't be in a hurry to replace them.
Although you said no...a good fixed blade 3.25" BLADE length, thin stock 1/8" or less, is a necessity. I generally carry a folder clipped and
the fixed blade Scout carry. I find that I pull the fixed more than the folder.
Nice to have you back in the fold.
The handles are great actually. I’m not sure if it’s a mix of the material and pattern on them but they are very grippy. The knife doesn’t feel cheap at all. Nothing about it feel cheap. The lockup is super tight and better then I remember the Benchmade being. If I had to buy this knife again I totally wouldHow does the handle feel on the Hogue? But then again, on my Kizer Sovereign, the g10 really feels like solid quality stuff. All about how you process it.
Your thoughts? Am I being irrational? Rational?

I just don't love BMs in general. I mean, if I found a deal or had one handed to me, sure, but none of their stuff really stands out to me as being my deal...In general, I like G-10. Some is better than others but I rarely hate it. Probably the worst I've encountered was on a Kershaw Zing but it was an outlier by far.
MY Mini RSK was a good knife. Fit and finish was at least as good as anything I've seen from Benchmade. The scale material didn't feel cheap. The texture was just too aggressive for me. It would have been an A+ for using with gloves but that's not a reliable use case for me. Most times when I am likely to be doing knife stuff and wearing gloves, I'm usually carrying a fixed blade.
As a regular EDC knife, I didn't like how it felt in my hand. It also chewed my pocket a little under the clip. So I parted with mine. If it was available with other scale options, I would have pursued that. I don't support Benchmade for reasons that are beyond the scope of this forum so this is the only option for the form factor.
Yea I can see where the texture is aggressive but I think for me that’s a good thing. It’s a knife to wear while wearing work type clothes so I don’t mind the pocket wear but I totally see your pointIn general, I like G-10. Some is better than others but I rarely hate it. Yea there are a few BM I like but it’s not a fav brand by any stretch. I haven’t tried WE yet but I’m sure I will eventually. I just got my first Civivi which is nice but not my fav knife, the ergonomics aren’t just right for me on this modelI just don't love BMs in general. Very, very quickly becoming a WE fan. Not to mention that after the first day with the Seer, I absolutely love it.
