Just got my new 561... Lock is insanely strong.

Got it. Now, I just discovered something odd. When I shake my 561 (don't ask me why), I can hear a slight sound as though something is loose, but I can't figure out what it is. Does anyone else's make that sound as well? It sounds as though there's a sand grain stuck somwhere, but there can't be, because I don't carry this out anywhere, nor can I think of anywhere where it might get stuck in.

Is there vertical play when it's closed?

I had that rattle as well. It was the caged bearings rattling. Took it apart and re oiled it then it went away

No blade play in any direction. I've also taken a torch and shone through to see from the other side, and nothing looks stuck from the looks of it.

Might be kvt, also I have heard that the bladestop sometimes can be a touch loose and make a noise too. Just something else to check.

By bladestop, do you mean the "thumbstuds?" If so, those are fine and have no movement there.

This Galyean Large Lahar was very tight, I applied pencil lead to the blade base, open closed it over and over. Now it's well fitted and unlocks easy.

Now that you mention it, my TiLT has a slight rattle.
I doubt it would be the ball bearings rattling if you had the pivot properly tensioned.

he's right. Just tightened my TiLT a little and no more noise.

I might be the plastic cage that holds the bearings in place. Both of mine have a bit of wiggle room so the bearings can move freely.

For everyone saying it cant be opened with the thumbstud.....keep your fingers off the frame lock and push the thumbstud forward instead of out and around.

Same as the 550 and umnumzaan.

Holy... that worked! It's still pretty tough to come out, but it did.

people have been saying that throughout this thread. did you try to open it with your left hand?

If you're referring to the difficulty of opening it with the thumbstuds, that's gone now (well, it's still harder than the flipper, but it works). The lock is still tough as hell though; I've got to jam my thumb in to push (or lift) it open if I want to close it with one hand.

No I mean the blade stop. The little piece that stops the blade in the closed position. its on the spine right behind the blade when opened.

I just got my 0561 in today and I'm having the exact same problem. I've dealt with a couple different frame locks, and this one is stupid hard to disengage. It actually hurts my thumb to do so. I too don't want to take mine apart, because I'm not a "tinkerer" and would prob not put it back together the exact same way. I'm thinking about just putting it up for sale, but I still want to give it a chance. The blade flips out just fine, and I can open with thumb stud just fine, but closing the knife is just torture.
