Hi I've been meaning to post this for a while, sorry for the rubbish pictures! I was kindly directed to this thread by Dave of CRK when he posted on British Blades a while back.
I bought it from a South African knife maker who bought it direct from Chris at the Durban Easter fair shortly before Chris left for the US. I believe it was the last of this pattern produced.
We don't get many chances to see, let alone acquire a Chris Reeve custom.
This one was just posted to the Nordic Knives site, as sold. I suspect it was pre-sold before it ever hit the site.
Custom Helix Lock Folder
3 1/4" blade of ATS 34, 7 1/8" opened length
Filed and anodized titanium ferrule
Hardwood handle with olive wood inlays
Marked #30
Made in the early 1990's, mint condition
Traded one of my Lisa's Picks for this one. This one is a Large Classic and I added a lanyard I made to match the colors of the knife. This is one that I actually carry now on the weekends. Never thought I would do that, but it feels really good.
Here's another rare one I just came across (the pix; can't afford the knife!) Sorry the pix aren't better. Here is the owner's description:
"ACCORDING TO THE PEOPLE AT CHRIS REEVE KNIVES, THIS IS A PRE PRODUCTION PROTOTYPE, THATS WHAT THE PP STANDS FOR, ITS ALSO AN INTERFRAME WITH PEARL INLAY, WHICH IS ALSO UNUSUAL. THE KNIFE IS MINT AND I BELIEVE ONE OF A KIND"
I finally got my first Mnandi in the mail, and I have to say, it is more stunning then I thought, I know it is not going to be my last!!! It is a Black Dyed Amboyna Burl and I love the color.
I missed the man in brown today by 15 minutes to receive my first Sebenza!! Guess I will have to wait patiently until tomorrow!!
