It kind of does if Sal is saying they don't like to keep stock sitting around. The steel is purchased based on the number to be made. Plus you have to schedule time for a specific knife on the production floor. It gets complicated really quick and it's really not as easy as we might think.
 
Yeah...I wanted one too, still on one pre order list lol. As someone who buys maybe 2 to 3 new knives a year, it's really a letdown when you see the knife of your dreams on the secondary market immediately.
