Just no at testing knives like this.

The knife broke at the 90 degree angle where the blade transitions into the tang (expected due to stress risers). Based on this, I put a loop of paracord through the lanyard hole, so real-world problem solved
...I know it's late but I read this like three times and still don't get it 🤔
Please enlighten 🙄

Which part? The stress risers or the paracord loop? They are not related, if it reads that way.

The paracord loop is to prevent the handle from separating from the tang
The stress risers occur at sharp angles. Not my image, but illustrates the concept

If you still don't understand, watch the video and it will become clear to you.

He hides his face. That tells me everything I need to know about him.

So does Bucket Head and Daft Punk.
It’s a schtick.
This joe x guy is just dumb entertainment.

This guy’s cringy destruction of knives isn’t my favorite. He needs more bamboo tests in his videos.

*Edited for clarity.*

Taken as a whole !
It shows up a knives strengths and weaknesses ...
But who the hell would treat a knife like that except a guy in a gasmask !

JoeX is not testing edge retention nor do the tests represent repeatability , comparability , or real world use .
He's just breaking knives .
It up to the viewer to read between the lines , and use some common sense and see if the knife is showing the strengths the person watching wants in a knife .
But in real world use ????? Are the tests even relevant ?

It's a little like comparing cars at 200mph ... How is testing at 200mph relevant to 99.9999999% of the people ?

I think it's more like parking luxury cars 50 metres below a crate full of bricks and then releasing the crate to see how much destruction it causes the car. Sure you get a lot of data but......

Anyone who's been online for more than a day should understand why someone might want to keep their face off the internet. Some of the best channels in their fields are quasi-anonymous. Some of the worst rely on recognition. Doesn't really bother me either way. As for "have thing, smash thing, get likes on internet" un, isn't that the point? At this point with something over a thousand hours of content uploaded every minute, go find something you like. It's really not that hard, and maybe at this point there needs to be a 34(a) It doesn't have to be porn though, it can just be something that only three people like a bit.

Hey. Buckethead is awesome! He gave me a green toy Lamborghini at one of his concerts here.
Yeah, that’s my point- it’s a schtick.
I, too, like bucket head.

ETA: I see how I wasn’t very clear at 4 am- I’ve amended my statement for clarity.

I don't watch these types of videos anymore. Not "testing" so much as it is abusing. I have no idea who would do these things to a knife or why they would do it. I honestly had to scan the video with the volume down because I could just tell he was going to sound like a jack ass by his body language and the way he dressed.

What was with flipping the shovel around? Does he dress like that because he thinks it gives him credibility? Dress tactical and they have to like me? 🤨

He keeps his face away for obvious reasons (internet in 2020's...).

And he dresses that way also for entertainment purposes. It is more of a gag, together with him talking stupid shit and jumping in water.

The entire point of his videos is "Until it breaks" so - seeing how much abuse a knife can take before it fails. And that abuse is not realistic use by no means.
And it has almost 0 weight to real world use or performance. But it shows you how hard it is to break a certain knife. Or how chippy something is.

To be devil's advocate - I've accidentally hit nail, staple, shin or screw or something with almost every knife I have. And if something chips on a car - it is likely it'll chip on that too.

I think folks are over-thinking JOEX. I will admit that at one point, videos and channels like this bothered me. Where I give him a pass is that he generally (mostly) doesn't equate failure from abuse as a bad knife.

It's stupid performance art, and he isn't really saying not to buy a specific knife if it breaks.
Obviously, some will equate that, but that's on them.

As I get older, I have made a conscious effort to admit that things will change that I am not going to understand. I can get grumpy about it and be an old man yelling at a cloud, or I can just let it go. The internet, especially YouTube, is a place to monetize content. Find a niche, build an audience, cash a check. As long as it's not spewing lies or sowing hate, I'm cool with it.

I totally understand keeping his face off the vids. Way too easy to get doxxed or e-stalked. Many of the channels I follow are either just voice overs or use an animated avatar simply because its really tough to keep the crazy at bay if you say something that someone for some reason finds inflammatory. Hell, I made a comment on a video on a differnet channel that was very tongue in cheek about the subject matter presented, and someone threatened to cut off my imperialist head. The content creator got the joke, but another dude was big mad and couldn't see the parody.

I have only watched a couple of Joe's videos, but the gas mask has saved his face at least half a dozen times 😜

I mean also true.

I got Glock knife as a gift - thanks to JoeX and Major FuglyCool.
Why Glock?
Because there are videos about it kicking ass when it comes to toughness and being extremely cheap. So - cheap, tough and looking cool. So the conclusion was that a guy liking knives will like it.

And I do like it.
And if it wasn't for these videos - I would get Bear Grylls ultimate knife... so I can thank them.
