Just pix of knives

I’ve always been a little indifferent to the Nessmuk style knives, but for whatever reason I really like these Boker’s. How do you like the knife?

Man, you must be in my brain, because you're posting just like me. I have never been much of a 'muk guy. Not. At. All. However, for some odd reason, that little guy just spoke to me.

It's a complete contradiction for me. There is absolutely nothing about that knife that I should like. One, it's a Nessmuk. Two, it's made in China. And three, it's D2...which I dislike almost as much as A2 and S30V. So, nothing adds-up. Despite that, I've really enjoyed that little thing. I've used it (*very minimally) for the "everyday" stuff...cutting food, opening packages, trimmer line, etc...and it has just smiled and asked for more. For my minimal usage, it seems to be holding its edge, and I haven't had the annoyance of sharpening the D2 yet. So, "caveat emptor".

I think I paid about $59 for it. So, for me (*as much as it was speaking to me), it was just a no-brainer to try.

EDIT- I really like Bokers, and if this little thing keeps impressing me, I think I'll contact Matt Braly and have him make me an Armatus sheath for it...which will probably double my investment. 😄

Yeah, I’m not a Nessmuk guy and I pretty much just stick with US made for my fixed blades (folders are a different story, Taiwan makes ridiculously good knives), and never used D2 steel. But every time I across a picture of this knife I like it. Hell, for 60-70 bucks I may have to go ahead and try it. I’ve never used A2 until recently, but I love it on the LT Wright’s I have, just curious what you don’t like about it? S30V is another one I’ve never used, but I do have some S35V that doesn’t really do it for me, I find it overrated. In the stainless category I much prefer XHP over it. But I’m a simple guy, the 1095 and 420hc knives have always been good enough for me.

Most of my A2 experience has been with Barky's stuff. Like S30V (*mostly Buck), I just can't get a really smooth edge on the A2 stuff. The edges I do get, on both, are a bit jagged. (*microscopically) Don't get me wrong, they'll cut quite well, but something about 'em just bothers me. It's like a "micro-serrated" edge. (*Maybe I need to try the LTW A2)

Amen to the "1095 and 420hc" stuff. I ain't much of a "super steel" snob, and love me some 1095 and 420HC...along with my favorite, 5160. I love beating on my shit, and the 1095 and 5160 has served me just fine. In fact, the TOPS 107E is quite possibly my FAVORITE fixie in the whole World...

I got ya, that’s kind of how I am with s35v. I would like to try some 5160 and 52100, just to beat the hell out of it. I’ve always liked the looks of the 107e, something about it speaks to me.
