Great info, thanks very much. I've had a bunch of the aus-8 recons, handled a couple talwars (the XL just didn't feel right to me. It felt "wonky". Not very ergonomic at all.), but I've never held the AK-47.

Out of the three I was thinking about getting the medium talwar with XHP.

Thanks for the mini review!

Medium Talwar is an excellent choice, but hurry up since they've been discontinued for 2016 (all sizes, all models). I don't know why, it was a really nice piece, and seems to be very popular.

As far as XHP goes, it's got nothing to do with the old AUS8. Way better edge retention, corrosion resistance is slightly better, I find it no much harder to sharpen than the good old AUS8 and its "bite" is much more agressive IMO.

The AK47 is heavy for its size, but has few competitors in that blade length for a waved, durable and great steel folder.

Pommel is excellent if ypu find yourself beating the crap out of things from time to time, or if you need a strong lock, opening it while your other hand is occupied (thumb disk is great, makes good thumb rest too)

Coating is far better than that crappy teflon paint, DLC won't wear by my uses (plants, wood, food, some cardboard)

My oldest son got me this display case and another box with drawers and a glass top last Christmas. This one's perfect for my Sages. Along with lots of others, I'm still waiting for the Sage 5 to be released. I think I'll have a problem fitting into this case when it finally does arrive,

Yeah, growing up on the farm many eons ago, we had tons of burlap just laying around the place. If I would have known how cool of a handle grip it would make I would have held on to some. :( I guess the old quip about hindsight being 2020 still holds true today. I've never seen carbon fibers before, but it sounds very intriguing, I'll have to give it an ole search in the internet so I give it a look. Still can't get over that mind boggling use of burlap. People are so creative nowadays. Cheers!

I've seen people use old Boy Scout shirts and cloth to make their own homemade Micarta, I wonder if burlap would work too! It would probably be very grippy, as it's a rougher material than canvas, and I'd imagine it would have a nice look to it.
