The older models are not like that, but what I gleaned after a bit of back and forth with Spyderco CS, was that the current production methods are somewhat different. I was told my concerns would be forwarded to Eric, but never heard back.

Nevertheless, I do like my fluted Ti knife, but should either start carrying it and giving it some wear or sell it as there's just a hint of disappointment whenever I handle it in its LNIB condition.

On the other hand, as much as I too love my digicam and black knife, I hate the look of scuffed and scratched coated blades and keep that one nice as part of the set below. I really like the translucence and feel of Spyderco's digicam G10.
