Just saw this.....Bark River is no more?

So if I’m understanding correctly, BRK has been modifying Chinese made knives to look different.

I assume that they used big machines like grinders for this..?

After the knives had been heat treated..?

And if the employees knew they were scamming customers, they might not have been super careful to preserve the heat treatment by avoiding overheating the blades..?

If so, it seems that even if the steel in these knives is the “correct” steel, they’re still very likely to have damaged heat treatment.

It also sounds like DLT is planning to test and sell some of these knives they have in stock.

Does anyone know if they are just testing them for steel type or also for proper temper/hardness?

(Doesn’t really matter to me - never have bought or will buy a BRK - just curious).
 
That's a really good point. You essentially compel employees to do something they know is wrong, and then, what, expect them to do it right?
 
Someone should start a BRK poll about how their knives have performed. It wouldn't prove anything but I'm generally curious. Mine sits unused. I'd do it but somehow mess it up.

If you think that is bad a female employee of Bark River posted on FB that Mike Grasso who used to be tied at the hip with Mike Stewart sexually harassed and groomed her from the age of 15 to 17. She even posted the texts with Grasso's name proving that he did. This Mike Grasso is a retired LA P.D. Detective and a knife made by Bark River was named the Grasso Bolo. This whole situation is messed up.

I know. I have screenshots of him writing explicit fan fiction that would make your blood crawl.

A den of thieves and pederasts. I know for a fact that Mike Stewart also protected these people by blaming the underaged employee instead of the retired 50-year old police officer.

I enjoy a lot of the Dutch Bushcraft Knives videos and they seem to be big fans of BRKT regardless of comments on their videos asking them to do a little homework.


I don’t think they’re shills. I think they genuinely have faith in the knives and the maker. Misguided as it may be.

I hope they don’t post a follow-up and chalk this up to lesson learned.

I love the DBK boys! They make me laugh and usually impart a few bits of useful info per video.

They posted a comment on one of the videos about this topic on youtube. Basically stating that they are saddened by the news but already had concerns about the QC issues. Ill try and find the video and comment.
 
Sounds like 1 Mike needs taken out back and put down and the other Mike needs to spend some solid time in a prison cell. I swear both these men could identify the make and model of any window with a single lick!!

This is horrible, he really needs to be held accountable for this. I know him and Mike Stewart had a falling out before Covid, but I don't know the details.
 
Wow I just got done reading everything and what a crap show. DLT has always been good to me and I’m sure they’ll come up with something to take care of their customers for this nightmare from BRK.
