As long as it's A2, it Should be ok....
Sir, are you saying if a given Bark River Knife is made/marked A-2, it should (might) be legit USA ? I purchased a Bark River A-2 Micro Canadian (Tiger stripe handle) back in April of 2021. Man, I hope it's the genuine article.
HARDBALL

Who knows, MS might enjoy prison, there he can cozy up with Otis, Earl, and Mo and have all the time to pocket hold and soap drop

This is getting wild now. Why am I not surprised the operation, in addition to the deception, is overseen by a bunch of lecherous old pervs

It's the way everything is, it seems. Always has been. Nothing new here just people being human. You see this shit everywhere now, I guess folks can't just hide or sugarcoat everything anymore. To think all you have to do is not lie about shit but i guess that's not profitable. And of course being a degenerate sex pest/ rapist/ pedophile is tacked on there for good measure People never change. Maybe they can get pardons.

I'm going to reopen this in case there is actual information about Bark River knives or what people can do if they have a question about blade alloy or other knife related issues.

This is a knife forum. So the discussion needs to focus on knives.

Posts which are not about knives will be removed.

A good friend of mine shared this gem with me. You can’t make this shit up. Something to cherish!

As I’ve never met the man, I’m basing this only on what I’ve been told and read, but I’m assuming that Stewart was a dynamic personality, a convincing one, much akin to what you’d expect from a cult leader. For decades, he’s pulled the wool over people’s eyes, convinced them to do things they’d otherwise never do. DECADES of this. That doesn’t happen if someone is just a simple bullshitter. This guy obviously knows how to pull strings. You can see it exemplied even now, where people are actively talking about sending him money to help ‘right the ship’, or forgiving him and giving him a pass for coming clean. He’s scammed vendor after vendor, time and time again. Screwed lenders, partners, friends… and always there’s someone there defending him. Stockholm Syndrome personified.

I’m not saying that his employees ought be just be given a pass for the transgressions that have taken place, but sometimes desperate, and perhaps abused and weak-willed people make bad decisions, and if they’ve been properly groomed for it by a master in the art, they’re not themselves.

Just a thought, something I’ve been pondering over the last day or so.

Well said. You captured my thoughts on the subject as well.

My mea culpa, it seems I had one more BRK then I remembered. At least I didn't pay full price for them except for one. Live and learn.

This is the same thought process of a liberal. They'll excuse every criminal act done by their political allies, so long as their ideals gain traction and they gain power.
I have many BR knives that I've owned for decades. I'm no fanboy and I hope Mike pays for what he did.

I’m wondering what percentage of the knife buying population will not even know of this scandal for months if not years. We are the extreme exception when it comes to all things knives and being extremely aware. I imagine there will be tens of thousands of people that just go buy a bark river knife for a birthday present for a husband or boyfriend without even knowing what’s going on.

I know there’s already several videos on YouTube, but I just don’t know how many people are searching before buying a $300 knife as a present or just general use when the name has been around so long.

For example, my brother carries and uses a pocket knife every day as well as fix blades when hunting but has no idea what the difference is between CPM3V, CPM154, A-2, Convex vs Hollow, etc.

When I told him that Bark River was going out of business and the scandal, he could not believe it because all he knew is that it was such a huge name in the fixed blade world. He most likely would have never known if I didn’t tell him.

Hey Ray, that’s categorical nonsense. It happens on both sides of the aisle. It’s also political baiting. Knock the shit off.

Well, I'm a complete idiot. I had two Bark Rivers for years, then just recently decided to pick up a few more and did absolutely no research on them other than watching a couple of videos of some guys holding them and talking about how great they are.

I even had a Blackjack delivered yesterday that I ordered about a week and a half ago. The dealer site says they will accept returns for refunds, probably with a restocking fee. Immediately sent them an email yesterday upon receipt, as they were closed. Still haven't heard from them, so they'll be getting a phone call tomorrow.

Fun stuff. I guess I learned a lesson. 😖

Every so often i check dlt to see if they made a statement about their remaining BR stock as they said they will make decisions public
So far nothing but they are all full priced
I wonder if someone ordered one would they cancel it and say "i wouldn't, not now anyway"

I'll be curious to see what the final prices on Bark River knives settle to. Even if you can prove the steel is as advertised, BRK had a history of grind and overheating problems, and now the knives lack their original warranty coverage. You'd have to treat any purchase like it was a factory second.

I realize there is some second company that's supposed to cover warranty for these knives, but I don't have much faith in that.

KSF listings look exactly the same as they did last week.

Don’t be hard on yourself- the handle material assortments alone brought in many buyers, and they had some nice designs. I have 2 BRK- a Crusader and a Cub. I like them and will keep them (I will also not buy another, but that has been my sentiment for a while after becoming aware of things).
