Was the 50% failure rate even after the fixes were implemented?

Yeah. We picked up some scale during the process. It can be stripped from the parts but it leaves surface imperfections that cannot be readily repaired. They're still functional swords so we might do some zombie swords or something with them, idunno.

Sorry to hear, Nathan.

On the bright side, as they will still be viable...parts is parts...

Can Cerakote or DLC cover the imperfections?

If it's anything like the imperfections like we saw on the dek3, just toss an acid wash on it and that's good enough for me! I'd buy it.
Alternatively, I wouldn't even mind if it had some scale left on it. Could look really cool if done right. Plenty of knives have that look.

Is there a way to prevent scale in the next batch?

I'm still okay with dumpster diving for a K20 with scale before Jo's competition

That looks great, Nate. Really.

Had an idea. Maybe if you rub down the "problem" blades with some of Mark's home grown Carolina Reapers...it might remove the scale and surface imperfections.

Plus...endorphins! And who doesn't love endorphins?

Wow! Those photos look great!

The lucky folks from the top of the pre-order list should be excited. 😃

It was unfortunate news to hear about the on going heat treat warpage/blemished stock issues. :(

Still... I think it was pretty cool for CPK to even offer up such a specialized piece of (stabby/cutting) sword weaponry.
