Is it just me, or is it quiet in here? It seems I missed the big rush when membership was opened because I was stuck in El Paso (again....). Now I seem to be hearing crickets.... :D

It took more than 3 years to get up to 245 posts, and now we've covered the next 115 in just over a month.

With a sudden sprint like that, good thing we didn't pull a hammy.

I guess we were using some of those off months to stretch.

Kool-aid + 195 Everclear + redbull = omgoodness :D

Hmmm, used to do grape koolaid, short a bit of sugar and water to make it strong and tangy. Haven't tried throwing red bull in, that prob adds that tangy ya need. Sounds good! Either way, we'd put half and half in an 8oz cup with ice and suck it down fast in one solid effort thru a straw. Totally did the trick haha. That was 20+yrs ago

I got what ya meant ;) I'll always be here Saturday mornings! Work is slow. Contemplating my next purchases :D wait for an rbk, or get a TDI mmmm

t-storms with hail this morning - so much for working on the house (fascia and soffits) and building a forge.
OTOH, I should have some water in the pond by the time it's done -- at least for a few days. :D

raining too hard to play with electricity outside and too humid for the refractory cement to dry.
SWMBO & the 3 dogs would not appreciate me cutting/grinding on sheet steel inside.

So, the big excitement for today here at the ranch/farm/casa was my son and I picking up our two 3-pound packages of bees and two queens and installing them in our brand spanking new hives. There are somewhere between 6,000 and 10,000 bees in each 3-pound package, so there was plenty of fun for all !!

Then we gave them a spritz with some sugar syrup and used a bee brush to coax them inside.

Once the inner cover was on, I was able to add the 1 gallon bucket feeder and the top cover. Then it's wait for the stragglers to leave the cage and join their sisters in the hive. My son installed the second package while we waited.

For knife-related content, I'm wearing a "Beckerhead" hat underneath the fencing veil with my suit.

That is really cool GSO! Amanda and I want to invest in a few hives ourselves.

True enough. Bummer! Hope the weather clears for ya tomorrow!

it stopped raining and the sun tried to come out, so I started working on the forge -- first coat of refractory over 2 layers of inswool/kaowool, hopefully it will dry enough I can put a second coat on it tomorrow afternoon.
while I was cleaning up my mess, the neighbor came by and finished harvesting the wild asparagus out of my ditch, and told me he's planning on doing some morel hunting this week -- and will be bringing us some if he scores good like he did 2 years ago.

Sweet!

What kinda dimensions is your forge? or easier yet... what is the biggest blade you can put in it ;)
