The difference in stored pollen colors comes from how the different pollens react to the bee saliva / enzymes added to it before storage. Some get much darker than others. Duh.
Obviously. Just from looking at the pics one can tell that's a redundant statement.
I can confirm that a BK3 makes an excellent backup hive tool when you forget it back at the house. It can be used to pry loose waxed-in covers and supers, lift up frames, scrape off burr comb AND be used to bash the odd, pesky rattler that takes a nap in the shade of a hive during the day. Just several additional reasons to keep a 3 in the truck.
