I'm 125 miles inland. Biggest anchor, and maybe only anchor of size, around is behind a gate in front of an Underwater Archaeology Conservation building on the riverside research portion of the A&M campus. The gray SUV seems to park in front of it everyday. Don't know where the water is from. It hasn't rained in forever.

Hey, DE, that building probably has (or has seen) artifacts we pulled up from a shipwreck in the Gulf in 2013. Some VERY cool stuff.

Might help some, but it sure makes a blade slick as hell for chopping and batoning. [emoji106]
Those Teflon and silicone lubricants are awesome. Used to have a little bottle of marine grade silicone o ring lube, and you couldn't wash that stuff off. Was a real good coat for knives.

That would not surprise me in the slightest. My wife studied archaeology here (mostly land based), but on occasion had to go out there a few times to get some stuff and draw it. She said it had some pretty neat stuff in it.

I need to get me a new Ka-Bar knife, but all I have right now are of the Becker family. I've been looking at 3 options: either go big with the Parangatang, go small with the TDI, or go folding with one of the Dozier folders. Anybody got a favorite knife that I'd be inclined to try out?

My current do-everything knife is the BK9, got scales and a sheath that I think makes it perfect for belt carry. I also have a few others for playing around with.

I'm waiting on a Mark 1 to come in the mail. Hoping that it's all I'm dreaming it is.

They're a bit heavy in the pommel for my liking but that's easy enough to fix. Just grind down the pommel until the balance is where you like it.

Deal.

I other news.... It seems princesses love to use KA BAR products while traversing forests.

I'm almost a month behind on this thread, but that photo is AWESOME on several levels. You have some well deserved praise coming for your performance at being Dad. As if the time spent right now isn't payment enough (I know, I've got a 4yr old son), the dividends will pay off a thousand fold in her teen years and beyond.

Plus it warms everyone hearts seeing the photos, so please keep going. :)

Mk2 gets my vote...

dozier folders are pretty nice -- but then there's also the new EK release...

 Thanks man. I normally take the kids for a walk through our local forest on Sunday mornings!

mmm EK#5 eh? I like the look of it! Looks like another one to add to 'the list'

I'll have to say the stacked MK1 has become a favorite. The rear weighted feel is growing on me.

Gots me a new one today. Apparently if you bleed all over the knife, you need to buy it :foot: which I was going to do anyways....:D

At home after a bath lol.

Was fondling it over the glass display case at the store, it slipped, I caught it instead of having it smash through the glass.... derp...

and sharp as all hell..... will post a review and such after some time with it.

damn, I always manage to cut myself with a knife on the first day of owning it, but that's something else right there. Ouch! Good reflexes are not always a good thing, it seems.

I got to testing the #5102 in the kitchen a bit last night and today.

Cheese and Apples can be an interesting challenge for a knife (thanks daizee). If the geometry isn't good and it ain't sharp, the apple will start to split ahead of the knife tearing it instead of cutting it. Surface area of cheese will also make it stick and be really had to cut through. Happy to report the #5102 has bested my previous EDC fixed blade (ZT 0121)
