Ka-Bar Coppersmith Barlow??

I have one of these beauties on order. It says ETA Mid March but it arrives this Monday.

Received my coppersmith barlow today and I'm pleasantly surprised. Nice, pocketable size with a decent pull and snap. No half stops.

For the price this one is hard to beat. Plus the copper bolsters (and that amazing dog head shield) makes this barlow a nice change of pace from nickel silver and a geometric shaped shield.

Here it is next to a GEC 81.

Man that is a gorgeous knife! Thank you for the pictures but every time a new one gets posted in here it just makes me want one that much more!

Does anyone know what the Wharncliffe version is that there is talk about? Have they just not come out yet?

^^^ I called them ( Tomar's) the other day because I was wondering the same thing and the guy I spoke with said that the only barlow that would be produced was the one on their site, meaning the clip point version. I think the wharncliffe profile they are referring to is the pen blade???

I figured that was the case, as I checked a bunch of sites and although some others mentioned the Wharncliffe version, the only pics were of the clip/pen combo.

Mine came yesterday but the light disappeared so I wasn't able to take pictures until now.

I am very impressed, no gaps, blades are centered and flush with backsprings when open, no blade play/wobble at all. Smooth edges all around, no over sunk or raised cover pins. Nice jigging, beautiful bone as well, nice blade grinds, workable sharp out of the box and the Copper---WOW!!!

Pardon my lack of knowing what steel this stainless is exactly but it sure took a terrific edge .

Very similar build to my 1983 Schrade USA Heritage Barlow .

Now to watch the patina form ;).

Paul, blades are 14-4CrMo, which is virtually identical to ATS-34, a high alloy stainless steel. Good stuff.

Is ATS-34 pretty much identical to 154cm? I've always read everybody saying that Canal Streets stainless is basically the same as 154cm. Just curious as I don't know much about ATS-34. :)

Thanks Jeff, ATS-34 I'm familiar with. I really like this steel as it took a very keen edge. Summer humidity and my body composition have ill effects on most of my carbon blades. This Kabar along with my Stainless Heritage Schrade Barlow I have will cut down on some of the carbon maintenance during the hot humid days.

Thanks again Jeff,

Paul
