Ka-Bar Coppersmith Barlow??

After much deliberating, I picked one of the up. My first KA-BAR (CSC). I could not be happier with it! The sharpest (from the factory) barlow that I've ever had, and sharp looking too. It's the only Coppersmith that I've seen in which the jigging on the worm groove extends into the copper bolster - must've been done by hand?!

If you're on the fence - do yourself a favor and pick one up.

Very nice BARLOW Brad - you either have to keep polishing those bolsters (which are terrific looking in high gloss) or come over to the Dark Side and just let them be natural - here is mine in September 2014 (haven't looked at it lately to see how much more it has colored). OH

I wish I had one with such a nice purple color!

Congrats Brad glad you love it! I have 2 now. Really wish they would make them like this one as a standard option though as I much prefer the thinner single blade knives.

Being KA-BAR Krew, I am a bit bias here. I love everything KA-BAR. Having said that, I have stayed away from the Dogshead line because I thought they were just too expensive. However, after finding out they were made by Canal Street, I understood the cost. And, being as it is that I am in a traditional knife love mode, I went back and looked a little harder at this line. Also, I have been really looking for a good Barlow. I think I might try to pick one of these up at some point. I really love the Barlow design, and the two shown here just make that desire more evident and unavoidable. Thanks for posting this thread!

Oh, and I am in the single blade camp as well.

I love this line and really wanted the Barlow. I ordered one from Amazon and the gaps in the liners were crazy. I sent it back for a replacement and was surprised to see the same thing! I sent the replacement back as well and gave up. Hopefully one day I can find some in store and handle before I purchase as I really admire CSC and this line of Ka-Bar knives.

Mine has gaps in the liners, but it doesn't bother me. The only time you can actually see it is if you hold it up to the light and look though it, which I never do, so no biggie. I haven't noticed the gaps since the first minute I unboxed it, that's about a week of constant carry/use. But, I can understand not wanting gaps, at this price point.

Oh don't get me wrong. I do not mind small gaps here and there. These were huge though. The knives actually looked broken in a way. hahaha. loved everything else about them though.

Really good Knife that is well made, plus the copper looks so good patina'd or even just left bright.
CROWEMAG check collector knives, a forum sponsor , I got mine from Mike and it has a great fit and finish. And really had a good price on it too.

Love mine. But then I got the opportunity to hand pick from several the dealer had in stock. Everything is perfect, centered smooth, no gaps. Truly an iconic piece.

I'm glad I could get this thread going again! Great looking photos.

CROWEMAG - I completely understand, can't have it if the gaps are crazy big.

swaybacksteve - maybe the finest patina yet!

btmccutcheon - beauty!

I need to hit up CK asap. You all have brought all the old feelings back to the surface. I need a Copeprsmith!

Here's my first two Dog's Head's. I'm really loving the copper. After getting the Barlow in hand, it just makes me want all of the Coppersmith line. Fit and finish really is great. And the pull weight on my Barlow is just perfect.

Got my Coppersmith Barlow in today. First impressions are that it's a stout little buggar. Fit and finish are stellar. Good snap on both blades and the pull is easily 7-8, stronger than I expected.

Also pretty thick. Kinda wish they had made both blades a bit longer, as the frame could certainly accommodate that. All in all though, I'm very pleased with it and can't wait for the copper to start coloring up.
