Just a few :)

And to @IWOULDHURTAFLY, what is the finish you are using on that 1211. I just got a new one in the mail today with the kraton grip handle and black powder coating on the blade and i feel as if this coat wont hold up long most likely.

Congrats on the new blade... Keep the coating for as long as you can, It will wear but it is the best protection for the blade. Also watching the coating wear off is gratifying. My coating was all beat to heck and basically non functional anymore, it was time to do something different. I stripped the remainder off, and "acid etched" it using almost boiling vinegar. It will turn almost black like this, but its just oxidation. So you dip, wait, scrub off, and do it over and over again till you get some depth. After that initial patina, I've just let it go. With use the patina will rub off and change. That 1211 has cut a lot of stuff. Its a great belt knife. The best preservation method for this coating is a silicone based O-ring lube, like what is used for pool pump repair. Its thick, slimey, but inhibits rust. Its also not edible of course, but it does slow down coating wear. If I was you, and you plan on using your 1211 I would just use the knife, let the coating wear, and then decide if you want to change it, the coating is more durable than the patina.

Have fun with your new blade. Its a good one.

Thought I'd add a pic of the ol' Ka-bar that has been with me since The day I enlisted. She's laying on my shooting jacket from the MTU days. The Springfield is just to make it a little retro...

My modest, and still growing collection. The Heavy Bowie being my absolute my favorite!

Great Shot!

And Thank You for your Service!

Is that 1245 non serrated?

EDIT: did some maintenance on my own 1245 and one of my last remaining Beckers.

I wish. I hate serrations on my blades, but I couldn't find a full sized, non-serrated KA-BAR Tanto. It is still one of my favourite knives.

Is that one of AZWELKE's kydex sheaths for you 1245?
