Kabar is getting into the zombie killing business

I always thought that 'zombies' was a code word for 'communists.' If you think like me you will be happier -- and better prepared.

Well, I was being overdramatic.
But if I may be a bit dramatic further, this doesn't really help common people to take our hobby more seriously.

I don't see how this will hurt or help our hobby at all. You are either into knives or your not. The public at at large isn't going to go beserk all of a sudden because Ka bar marketed this thing.

I doubt anyone outside of this hobby will even hear of it. Hell, if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't have known about it and now that I do, I still don't care one way or the other.

Knife companies have been and will continue to be part of the toy industry for grown men as long as grown men have a disposable income to spend on knives that they don't actually need. A category that I'll bet all of us fit under.

The zombie thing is a bit juvenile and whimsical, but just a reflection of the fact that despite these hard economic times, things are actually good enough that we can view this stuff with such a youthful and humorous eye.

It is just a knife. Would you kick a hot girl out of bed because of her name? You either like the design or you don't, the name shouldn't make a difference. I'm not a big fixed blade guy but that first one looks like it could be useful in the woods.

Overall the designs look very well thought out. Too many re-curves for my taste, but the handles look amazing in both shape and color.
My favorites are the two WW2 designs.

My nephew gave me the machete looking one for Xmas (along with a Zombie handbook) I love the knife and the book is amusing reading. I didn't take it too serious, it's a joke.
I was impressed at how sharp the blade was. Definately will find a use for it.

that first one looks like one hell of a chopper. if i was in the market for something large like that the junglas might have some new competition. cant wait for full specs

Those lime green handles made me think USN edition. To be honest, I dislike neon colors on knife coatings/handles.

The chopper and the folder appear to be very functional and well designed knives to me, but the combat knife looks a little mall ninja for my tastes. I dig the high vis green handles. Personally the whole zombie thing just seems like a marketing strategy to get some decent quality knives into the hands of young people, who often buy cheap Chinese or Pakistani fantasy knives made of 420j2, and for that effort I applaud Kabar. They have long seemed like "that company that made your grandfathers WWII knife." The Becker lineup has done a lot to modernize their offerings and appeal to knife enthusiasts, and this zombie killer line is obviously meant to have the same appeal to young people who might otherwise buy 200 knives for $199 on TV.

I like the first one... my dad had a folding machete like that when I was a kid.

Not bad MSRP either.

Riiiiiight...how completely...normal?

(it ain't the zombie talk that makes folks think some knife people are weird...)

Ah yes, get them while they're young and convert them to Beckerheads as soon as they can swipe Mom's credit card! ;)

That's a lot of money well spent instead of on Gil Hibbens knock-offs or one offs for that matter ...lol...:D

Not sure why people would have a problem with 'zombie killer ' as making it hard to take the hobby seriously when we clamor over knives called 'junkyard dog ', 'infidel ', and 'son of dogfather'. People who don't prematurely judge people who are fascinated by knives will do so regardless of the name on the blade.
