Please -- please -- do not. One combat circle is entirely sufficient.

As I am sure you are aware the Gorkhas are the Nepalise Army and the Gurkhas are the British army ...
The spelling was changed after Indian independence, gorkhas were gurkhas origionally. So you have trained the gorkhas which are the native indian army, and the British army soldiers but not the gurkhas who were the ones that stayed with the British?

Limbu,

You are quite right, but the Indian army after '47 adopted the name as well, and in Nepal the Nepalese Army are known as Gorkha's.

Lokk,

Your apparent lack of knowledge is becomming more and more eveident, the Chettri formed the 9th. Gurkha Rifles LOL and have their origins back in 1817!!

No your lack of knowledge is apparent. The name "Chettri" comes from kshettri which is a minor form of kshatriya (warrior) who doesn't have the standing to be in command but is allowed to be a minor soldier. It corresponds with khatri and its origins go back a LOT further than 1817. Kshettri is first seen in documentary evidence in Manu's law book, an ancient Hindu text. It was used to classify the offspring of sudras and brahmins or kshatriyas. Clans such as "Rai" belong to this group. Feel free to add this information to your website, with another macho mugshot of yourself and some Oriental fellow holding a knife who told you this in the mountains, to back it up.

Not every Nepalese person is a "Gurkha" proper, although have all at various times been eligible to join the army. I hope this is clear by now.

Besides which, unlike you I never claimed to be an expert in the field. I simply asked for your credentials and checkable references, TWICE, and they have not been forthcoming.

I will ignore your rather outlandish insinuations about me as a person, and as Martial Artist.

Oh I knew you would. What else could you do? I ask for the name and contact details of the man you pictured on your site and who you claim to back up your credentials, and you FAIL to supply it. I'm so surprised.

I ask for any sort of contact/referee in either the British or Nepalese military who can confirm your martial arts credentials, and you FAIL to supply it.

I ask you even for the name of your alleged "boarding school" where you supposedly learned all about fighting and kukhris, and you FAIL to supply it.

You must take us all for morons, Simon. You fake.

Your claims are outrageous. If I was a gurkha I would be plenty pissed with you. I feel sorry for them that their culture is being misrepresented by such a clown. Claiming to teach the gurkhas or the British Army how to fight with knives, for shame! How would you like it if a gurkha turned up at your school with a kukhri and picked a fight with you? Would you show him some new tricks?

Lokk,

You obviously read and see things how you want to, I was saying the 9th GR has its origins back in 1817 LOL.

Cheers Simon

There's never a dull moment.... We have been watching these people with different usernames all saying the same thing with the same IP, and he screwed up and gave us the proof we were waiting for. They were all the same person, using different names to try to create the impression of a groundswell of opinion.

Dear Editor—

I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says, “If you see it in The Sun, it’s so.” Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus?

Virginia O’Hanlon

Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men’s or children’s, are little. In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The external light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies. You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if you did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that’s no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You tear apart the baby’s rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived could tear apart. Only faith, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives and lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

As a moderator on the IKRHS Forum, which I consider a scholarly (and friendly :) ) venue, I resent being linked to in this pissing match! My sincere thanks to the HI/BF mods for removing this troll.

I've never handled a kuk so cannot comment on quality, but you HI fans are the most narrow minded i've ever experienced.

Surely, Simon has over 38 years experience with kuks, so he doesn't know anything... 38 years of xp doesn't count in your eyes then? The way you attack Simon in this matter shows that most of you are not even adult enough to handle a kuk.

Don't be so narrow minded. "HI is the best, end of debate!" :grumpy:
That's just not the way to go. One brand is not necessarily the best, one must try a few to decide what is best.

Just because HI has sold 20.000 kuks or whatever, doesn't mean it qualifies itself as being the best. :barf: Quality over quantity as said earlier.

Go out, see the world and meet some people for once.

Now, shoot me down. :D

Vild, thanks for joining us five mins ago;) Seriously, man, the debate is over. No one won. everyone lost. All we have is a thread where things got ugly when they didn't need to. It all comes back to Simon. Had he not posted a picture to back a strawman argument, then everything would be peachy keen. Now he's lost most of the cred that he has built up with the BF khuk community (i.e. we narrow minded slack jaws that actually bought from him as well as HI.). He also got himself banned.
Vildmark, i invite you over to the HI imports cantina. This display of "my dad can beat up your dad" is NOT what we like to partake in. We simply needed to set the record straight. Not because "our" khuks are better than "his", but because slanderous lies were told here. Lies that tried discredited the work of one of the kindest most humble men to ever walk this planet. So come on by the HI cantina. Sit a spell, listen, and learn. 38 a years fighting with a khuk is all well and good, but we have gentlemen there that have been using blades for lifetimes upon lifetimes. We invite all walks of life to enter the cantina at least once. Just remember to take your muddy boots off before you come in, if you know what i mean.
Welcome to Blade Forums.

Lets say a stranger walks into a local pub/bar in Denmark.

Almost everyone is drinking a certain brand of beer.

The stranger loudly announces: "That beer you are drinking is terrible tourist trash. It is so bad is cannot even be called 'beer.' Anyone who doesn't drink the brand that I sell knows nothing about beer."

He persists is making such statements.

He makes it clear he is not trying to be humorous/funny.

He calls a couple of other strangers into the bar to make even more negative statements about the beer that everyone is drinking.

What happens?

Simon was given the benefit of the doubt until he removed all doubt. He destroyed his credibility completely on several levels. No one ever disputed Tora makes great khuks. Simon disputed a lot of things and finally convinced most people he is not worth taking seriously. It was his own actions and words that condemned him. He was not willing to listen, he just wanted you to listen to him. His "I am right and you are not" argument really ran it's course. He knows some stuff and has some good points, but his crusade is fanatic like, he has blinders on. He proved to be the one unwilling to entertain another point of view. Lots of guys that own HI stuff have some of his too, they all agree it's good stuff. Tora, the company, is not in question. They offer a solid product. There are lots of questions about the guy behind the company though.
