Kami Medical Emergency Fund

I must add one thing, you did you clear this with Yangdu, right?

Have you asked her about this yet or even called her to tell her you intend to do this yet?

Something like this taking her completely by surprise may not be as well received as you hoped.

She would NEVER tell this to you but it is always polite to clear such things with the owner of the company first.

Yes, Steve has already contacted Auntie About this.
She doesnt have any of the sheaths yet, as Steve has to modify the snap closure and ship some to her. Shipping them out may be delayed a little until she gets some, but this will let Steve know how many to get busy on. I'm not sure on shipping and such but Auntie will be taking care of that dept. anyways.

Re: you did you clear this with Yangdu, right?

Yes, she gave her blessing and encouragement for this idea before I posted about it. Her preference was for me to make the announcement and take care of these details, which I am happy to do.

Thanks for all the replies so far.
Hung, great idea and thanks for the encouragement.

If anyone else has the intention of eventally getting one of these sheaths from Yangdu, please reply here. If there's enough interest, I'd like to send all 50 sheaths to Yangdu at once (I can do the modifications in an afternoon).

If you think your khukuri might not fit this sheath, then please list the size and type of khukuri (as others have done) and I will ask Yangdu to check the fit for these models and maybe take some photos to show.

Thank you for the great help, Steve
HI, Kamis and Sarki

Well, I am still down for one of these so Thanks again Steve!

At the moment, this is all I will be getting unless I find something on a DOTD. :o

I am in for at least 2 or 3. And may I just add how happy I am to be part of this forum/community!

I am in for two for sure, maybe three. With 30 to 40 khuks, I am sure these would fit a few!
Thanks Steve and Yangdu. This is a great venture.:D

I'll be wanting a couple within the next month or 2 for fall. Outstanding way to give, brother~!:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks!

Kev

Great idea Mr. Tall. I'll take at least one sheath and maybe two. I like the idea of providing medical support for the kamis.

When I turned 50 I was still in the process of recovering from a severe low back injury that had put me in a hospital bed for five years. My wife divorced me shortly after the injury, but I won joint custody of my two young sons. I kept my job by working over a modem from the hospital bed in my living room.

When I recovered to the point where I could begin walking I decided to train for a 50 mile hike on my 50th birthday as a means of speeding up my recovery.

So, on July 2, 2004 I hiked 50 miles through some of the most beautiful country in the American southwest. The trek went from dawn to dusk and took 16 and one half hours. I felt healed after that event and am very motivated to help celebrate your fiftieth through participation in the very thoughtful and generous project you have outlined.

Proud to share membership with you here on the HI Forum.:thumbup::thumbup:

HighDesertWalker, 50 miles in one day on Birthday #50 is beyond amazing!
Thanks to all responders for the support.

The tally is currently 17 to 21 sheaths "spoken for" already, with 4 more "maybe" depending on fit. Pretty good for one day.

Anyone else want to join the list? (This is a limited run of 50, after all ;) )

Thanks.

This is a terrific idea. I just ordered an M43 today and if it fits I will take one for $20.

Wether it fits or not please add $5 to my order to get more money in the medical fund.

I will send an email to Yangdu now.

I had said I was in for one and possibly a second if it fits an 18".

Just put me down for 2 for sure.

I agree.
To 'persistence' I will add: resilience, determination, willpower, strength...
To 'humbled' I will add: inspired.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
