Kami Medical Emergency Fund

col then, there are indeed more sheaths available. Now all I need is to wait for my first one to get here so I can see if it will fit all three or just one or two? If I only have one that fits, then I am covered, if more fit then I will need maybe a couple more... :)

Thanks again Steve, great Idea!

I do not yet own a Khuk so if i want to buy one for when i do -- how do i know what size Khuk to buy ? are these all same size or do we order different sizes of sheath ?

i would like to get one now but it will be a couple month before i can get money up for Khuk

The sheaths are made for the larger bellied khuks like the AKs, M43. Ganga Ram Special, etc. Other more narrow style blades will work but will obviously have more room in them. 16.5 and 18" are the most standard sizes for the sheath, although other sizes seem to fit also. Here's a link that includes a listing of models that fit supplied by others on the forum:

Yes, the fundraiser sheaths are still available (until we hear from Yangdu that they are all gone, at which point the thread will be updated).

A related thread with updates:

The fundraiser sheaths are still available (until they're not).
Only $20 each and 100% goes to the medical fund (since it all was donated),

Some more testimonials:

"I always get the Kami medical sheaths. She still has them and they are a great value."
-- Bawanna, 1-2-14

"The medical relief fund sheath that I used worked very well and was quite comfortable even after 200 miles of hiking to and from work sites."
-- Issun, 4-5-13

"Got 2 KMEF sheaths today ... WOW!!! I don't see how they are making money by charging 20 dollars for these sheaths.... Very durable, high quality sheath... Fit my CAK & WWII pretty much spot on... much more practical than the traditional sheaths! Thanks HI for making such hi quality items very affordable!"
-- Heespharm, 11-24-12

"The KMEF sheaths are good and they're only $20."
-- Browning A Bolt, 11-12-12

"For purely practical use the KMFR sheath is ideal."
-- bric, 8-31-11

"A good "beater" sheath for a good cause... These leather fundraiser sheaths are actually lined with a very thin, hard plastic sheet that is sewn to the leather to protect it from the edge while inserting the knife, I imagine, and it should keep moisture from the leather off the steel... Similar-looking sheaths may be found elsewhere, but be aware that these fundraiser sheaths have already been modified to fit the thick blades of HI khuks (the standard snaps were otherwise too tight)."
-- Steve Tall, 8-11-11

Steve, it was so cool of you to do this. I use my fundraiser sheath all the time when I'm working in the yard, it fits all of my khukuris up to 18". The 20" ones fit pretty well too, a bit of the blade sticks out, but it's only the unsharpened part before the cho.

I just got a nice villager without sheath. Can they be purchased separately?

yes they can snowwolf just send auntie an email and request one, purchase price plus shipping plus whatever you can afford to give-- so glad to have you among us sir, you are a scholar and a gentleman.

Hey thanks... Gentleman ok, but scholar not so much. Enthusiast at most. :D

As for the sheath, I'll wait for my next DOTD hit and have it ship with it.

Hey all this is my first post here, I think this kind of fund raising idea is amazing! I'm an armature leather worker who would be happy to contribute to the cause with busy work and wondering how the supply of sheaths is holding out? Not saying that i could actually build a decent sheath that anyone besides my mother would use but I'd be happy to help with adding snaps/modifications if the need ever arose. Let me know I won't be broken hearted if you say no :p. Also I was about to ask if these would fit the M43 however i saw the previous post so i won't ask again. Also my M43 hasn't even arrived yet and I'm already got my eye several other Khuks.

Keep up the good work folks,

-Brogan

Thanks for your interest, Brogan, and welcome to the HI forum. The sheaths (pre-modifications) were closeouts that had been made for a discontinued Camillus product, and all the remaining stock was purchased for this fundraiser. The modifications for all these sheaths have already been completed, and the remaining ones are in Reno with Yangdu.

Here's an update thread about the Fundraiser Sheaths, but the quantity remaining hasn't been updated for a while, and this would be something that Yangdu could answer.
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/794440-Sheath-Fundraiser

They're not available anymore.
UPDATE FROM YANGDU, 8-4-2014
...I am completely sold out the KMFR sheaths...
