Kansas Tactical -- Beware!

Wow...Fraud...Anyways, most credit card companies have a 60 day limit on a disputed charge, and then the dispute must be sent in writing. Also, you might want to contact the Better Bus. Bureau in his area, they can SOMETIMES be helpful. I'm not sure why the $130.00 is worth his business reputation, not to mention the fraudulent acts he has possibly committed...

Folks,

You should know that I received an email last night from Matt/Kansas Tactical:

>>David,
It will be in the mail tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help and support. Why it could not have been simpler, I don't understand...

Sing, sounds like a bad guy from the git go. Let us know if he comes through. I will cross his name of my short list of people to buy from. I have had great luck, sending knives to Forumites before receiving payment and have not been burned yet. Going the other way the same thing. I have sent money and the knife was in the mail the same day or the day before I mailed out the money. As for dealers, all I have dealt with have been excellent. So when we turn up a bad one, we should help each other out. I liken this board to a brotherhood of knifeaficianados. I for one don't have unlimited funds and I hate being burned. Thanks for the tip! Keep us informed, as I too will send an email to the offender.

Sing: This situation irritates me. However, I also live in Wichita Kansas, and I will be talking a look tomorrow at the address listed at 11224 West Rita for this business. You might be interested in taking a look at my profile and see if you think I might be able to help or intervene in your behalf if you do not get the $$ back promptly.

Copfish & Sniper,

The man has a chance to come clean and salvage something. He may have been in a cashflow problem. I am guessing. But, if true, he could have said something instead of ignoring my emails while sending out ads for wares of his site.

Thanks for your concern as well.

I agree with Lucky Dog-American Express is my preferred method of payment for the reasons expressed. Good luck Sing--maybe this guy is just suffering from a cash flow problem, or maybe your knowledge of knives were greater than his!

Unfortunately, the week came and gone. The check must had been figuratively "in the mail...."

AR,

Thanks, but do no more. I'll let the credit card company take care of it. I'll also inform the Kansas Better Business Bureau.

The Better Business Bureau URL is pretty easy to guess and to remember:
http://www.bbb.org/

I've found them very helpful on many occasions. You might also consider the Consumer Protection Division of the FTC, at
http://www.ftc.gov/ftc/consumer.htm
but I think that the BBB doesn't want to be involved once the FTC has been pulled into matters.

Good idea sing, and thanks for the info Athanatos.

One lesson we might learn from this is "Don't buy from spammers."

My assumption is anyone who's unethical enough to spam is unethical enough to cheat his customers, too, in one way or another. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe there is somebody somewhere who spams and is a pleasure to do business with ... but the odds aren't good.

Sending spam of our own to his mailing list or whatever part of it appears in the to and cc fields of his spams to warn people ... well, it might alert one or two people, but it would also annoy all the others; it would be just one more spam to them. On balance I don't think it's a good idea. When you think about it, if we responded to all spam that way ... it would double the spam in circulation at the very least, probably multiply it many times because more than one of us would respond to each spam by spamming a warning.

Jackyl,

Did you mention to Matt that his reputation
was on the line? Also, does he know that you live in Kansas too? If he does, that wasn't very diplomatic. If I am correct in
the geography department (which oftentimes, I am wrong) then you could affect his reputation locally as well? Its funny that
people don't realize that their name follows them their whole life (unless its an alias).

Cougar Allen opined:
My assumption is anyone who's unethical enough to spam is unethical enough to cheat his customers, too, in one way or another. Maybe I'm wrong,
I'm pretty sure that there's some honest blockhead out there who just doesn't understand that spamming is Bad.
maybe there is somebody somewhere who spams and is a pleasure to do business with ... but the odds aren't good.
Yeah. Even my hypothetical honest blockhead would probably be a pain with whom to deal. And, anyway, we just don't want for spamming to pay.

Sing -

Sorry to hear that things haven't turned out. I think the remedies you are pursuing will get your money back in your hands in the fastest possible way, as well as alerting others to KS Tactical's business practices.

Attached is copy from an e-mail sent this AM.

"Sir -

As I understand it, your refund to Mr. Moy was never received. I am greatly
displeased to learn this. While I initially refused to come to an opinion in this
matter, I feel that I have enough information to now consider you a "bad" dealer.
Rest assured that in the future, anyone who mentions your company's name to me
will be told this story, where Kansas Tactical misleads their customer, and refuses
to deliver a promised refund. Honest. This happened to a friend of mine. I will
also proudly offer them a list of several other dealers I have found to be reputable
in the past.

Again, I sincerely hope that you will find a way to resolve this situation, and
restore your business' reputation.

Brian Turner"
