Keen Kutter and Shapleigh finds

@ Mark, Paul, Perry, Rob, thanks for the  on my EO.

@ Christian, fantastic HJ.

I took some photos today. I need to give it a good sharpening, other than that it's good to go!

That's a great HJ, Christian!!;)

As promised, Brad, here are some non-Simmons KeenKutters from a similar time frame as your new treasure!

Closer for the tang stamps!

I better get that fingerprint off of the blade!!

Looks like two different makers, from the tang stamps!
:D

Great photos of very nice knives Charlie, thanks for showing them. Interesting about that tang stamp on the sheep barlow. Most of the Shapleigh era KK's seem to have the stamps like the first two (mine too), with the "overhang" on the top of the sawtooth (if that terminology makes sense:D).

And the looooooong pull on that spear...:thumbup:

That blade sure looks like the one in your EO Jack, Brad!
I've heard the KK logo described, but I cannot remember what it is?
Bar and wedge or something - anyone?
I know what you mean of course.

Glad you like that HJ, Christian!

That EO looks to be in fine shape, Brad!!

I haven't found where I stashed these away yet, but I have pics! A.G.Russell had a collection he was selling, so I managed to pick up some clean ones. I think it was 6-7 years ago. A lucky day!!
Hawkbill (likely Schrade):

I think this "no-overhang" stamp was Schrade's, and the overhang was maybe Camillus?

All the Barlows:

A nice Congress:

Charlie, I believe the KK tang stamp description is a "saw-tooth through a block of wood." I've always thought it was a really neat design.

Nice congress indeed! And your barlows too. Thanks for sharing your knives and knowledge!

Most excellent Keen Kutter showing guys !!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::D

Thanks to a friend, fellow collector/nut, keeper of knife-knowledge, SFO master and general all-around good guy, my EO has a friend to hang out with now! Pictures do not do justice, these 2 look good together! I am smiling big tonight!:D

"Hey, nice blade!"
"Back at ya'!"
"Wanna' hang out?"
"Shoot, why not!"

"What'll we do?"
"How about head into town?"
"Right, this way, let's go!"

Hey Brad, those Jacks look good together!!
:D

Nice saber-grind, George!!
;)

Brad - those are two pristine examples which look fantastic together !!!:thumbup:

I tend to think of the Keen Kutter and Diamond Edge brands as being similar to John Primble brand with Belknap Hardware.

I really appreciate those older hardware companies which special ordered knives. I think their standards were very high - they wanted a GREAT knife to represent their name.

Outstanding Primble! What is the name for the jigging type on the barlow? Is it pick bone that's just pocket worn, or something else? You're right about Simmons and Shapleigh wanting high quality. Beautiful sunrise today!:D
