Keep it Alive in 2025

I think if a forum knife does happen this year we should aim to keep the cost down. I think cost is the main reason last year's hasn't sold out. In year's past when we voted on the knife it was decided to do single blade to make the knife more accessible to everyone.

Another good thing about a possible non-GEC sourced Bladeforums Knife would be that in addition to costing less, there'll fewer speculators, so a smaller run would be possible.

I agree. The cost was quite a bit higher than previous years, and to pay that much to get an ugly handle was just too much. With an attractive handle on an attractive pattern, the 500 knives would have sold out pretty quickly.

A full sized stockman from GEC was my hope beyond hopes for a BF knife, so I'm satisfied. The only reason I don't have 2 or 3 is the price, although i may still try to order another later this year.

I'd be glad to have one of whatever may come this year, especially if it’s a French peasants knife.

Last years Forums Knife is a pretty nice knife once somebody has dyed it so that it does not look anemic . Then there was the cost aspect . Then our choices were to buy an expensive ugly knife or pass on it .

Indeed  Then there was the less than welcoming vibe about overseas orders putting a damper on enthusiasm.

Due to the 24 knife still remaining on sale I doubt if there will be another Forum Knife in traditional style. However, we can and should dream :) A single-blade would be most practical and likely to sell. If it is GEC then a Sodbuster type 71 in special Micarta-say basketweave or Osage Orange wood, would certainly be popular across the board, hasn't been a Sodbuster type yet nor Drop-Point I think ? A single Spear would be a good idea too on the 92 Eureka/Talon frame and Barehead for construction simplicity.

Pity knifeswapper knifeswapper could not be persuaded to give us a Modern Traditional from Viper as he did so remarkably in 2020 against all odds. This time you could have the currently trendy Lamb Foot blade instead and Ebony or White Bone ?

Going to look in Levine at Clasp Knives to extend the fantasy....😍

As long as we're talking about non-GEC options, the 2-bladed Buck 301 from a few years back is a pretty sweet knife. I would have loved to see a matching 303, but Buck seems to have just changed the blade configuration on their stockman (-men?) knives.

For something completely different, what about a Russell or Mini Russell lockback from Grohmann? It's a selfish suggestion because I've been meaning to pick one up.

I usually suggest a Morakniv product and now that Morakniv has made the Garberg and Kansbol in Black, Red, and now Green for 2025, they are flexin and risk takin (and stainless and carbon).

A carbon Eldris with a clear or otherwise cool handle would be affordable and super fun.

I am totally in favor of a GEC, but if it was a Buck, Morakniv, or something else I would support whatever works for the forum owner.

My usual suggestion: A Bird & Trout.

An Eldris is a bit like a Bird and Trout that went off its diet plan... little bit chubby, but in a good way.😂

Holy positive reinforcement Batman?
Some great suggestions....except the Opinel charburnt twigster...which is how mine would look...but I'd give it a go...might even appeal to Spark Spark ....Which brings me neatly to an important clause in Ye Olde Porchenberg Charter...
We need his blessing.
Also for those who don't care for the Mashed Potato with bits of Skin colour bone...but DO like the dyed versions we're seeing AND have the spare loot ....buy a 2024....they may be sitting on the shelf but won't be there forever........not trying to influence anyone....🫠
