Keith Johnson Knives

As you folks can tell by looking at the knives in this thread I haven't made any new patterns for quite a while. Mostly I've been filling custom orders.

After spending some time looking at Waynorth's (Charlie's ) Harness Jack threads I'm building a prototype.
(This knife is not available).
Many thanks to Charlie and Ken Erickson for their assistance.
Questions and comments are welcome.

First I drew paper patterns and glued then to sheet steel to make some permanent patterns. I made a punch blade first and used a 1/8" ball end mill to make the groove.

Keith, that is going to be one sweet harness jack; especially with the help from Charlie and Ken! Hope you will introduce more new patterns in near future.

Keith,

Great to see you push the envelope, keeps the interest high, looks terrific. The WIP's add to overall appreciation
for all the work involved in making a "simple" pocket knife!

Looking really good Keith!

Some really nice details, such as the long pull through the tang, and how nicely the punch is going to sit in the closed position.

Looking forward to seeing this one completed. Nice WIP pictures also. As Jeff has said, pushing the envelope and keeping interest in your knives is spot on.

Two steps forward and one back today. After spending some time fitting the stag I decided it was too thick so I can't use it. I 'm going to use some bone jigged as close as I can get them to the scales on an old Union Cutlery hunter I have.

I ground the master blade bevels, the pile side of the punch and ground the nail nick on the mark side of the punch.

This "work in progress on a HJ" is really really really interesting...I feel the lure of the pattern, and watching how you are working your way with it is great.
I'm willing to see how the story goes on...but meanwhile it's good to stop and stare.

Nice progress, Keith! Looks like you are having fun! It's gonna be a great one!
I like that bone!!

Made some good progress today. I got the scales installed, swedged the master blade, threaded the bolster and inlet the shield. If all goes well I should be able to finish it up tomorrow.
