Keith Johnson Knives

Was this harness jack base on a specific old knife Keith?

I spent some time looking at the knives in Waynorth's Harness Jack threads and then started drawing. I traced the blade and spring from an old jack pattern and modified until I had what I thought would work.

That's a great looking Harness Jack, Keith. The jigged bone is a knockout.

Keith,

Thank you for taking time to put this up for us. Fantastic looking knife and it means more to see some of the steps you go through.

Looking forward to seeing you in June at blade.

It might be a personal sensation...but I sense that the "HJ fever" is spreading more quickly lately...and we all know who is to blame for this...
This knife looks awesome. I particularly like the design of the punch, and the silhouette of the knife with the spear blade open. Great work!

Keith, that is one fine knife!! It's obvious you enjoyed making it!
Magnificent job on everything; the bone, the punch, the blade! Someone is gonna get a winner!!
(You there, Terence? I can't email, but You are a lucky dog! That's a landmark knife!):D

My thanks to all for the nice comments. :D

Here are some in progress pictures of the Northwest Spear Keith is making for me.

This looks like it's going to be a whole lot of knife in a small package. The OAL is 3-1/2". I wanted a full feeling working knife and something that could be easily opened with working gloves. We had a lot of conversations about this knife. Cut swedge vs drawn swedge. Sabre grind vs full height grind. The placement of the nick. Once Keith sent these WIP shots last night I knew we had made the correct decisions. I can't get over the amount of blade on this small knife.

Killer knife, Michael! It appears that you can get a full solid handle grip on that one. I see LSCF .. ;)

Keep up with the awesome work, Keith!

Keith sent me some completed pictures today of my Northwest Spear. This little knife is going to pack a punch. It's everything I asked for in a working knife.

Some specs:

1/8" CPM 154 CM
10" Deep Hallow Grind
3-1/2" Closed
Lightening Strke Carbon Fiber

I can't wait for it to get here. I hope you guys like the pattern. Thank you Keith for making it for me.

Keith,
there's something classy and elegant and classic in this knife that I've rarely seen. I never thought I would find myself thinking about carrying a cotton sampler knife. Now I do.

What he said! Especially at that size. I'd love to see it in hand.

Very nice execution.
