Ken Coats Slipjoints

Mark,

I agree with your comment, I have this one in my collection.
The Koa is beautiful!

Mark

I liked Ken's Koa Shadow from 2010. But then I have a biased opinion.

Congrats Trand. Looks like a fantastic knife that you will enjoy and pass to someone one day. That whole knife really looks good. Really like the blade grinds and the bone just looks great. That jigging and color really sets the whole knife off nicely.

That shadow is something else too. Never have been a toothpick fan as a pattern, but that is one classy piece of work.

Another one with the bright stuff going out tommorow, with the colors as they are it
is some pretty cool stuff. Comments welcome
Ken.

Ken,

For sure some cool colors on this one. Looks good.

What is the closed length on this knife, along with the blade length? Hard to tell with the rear of the knife angled up toward the camera. The camera has a bad habit of distorting the proportions on a knife at times:eek:

Christmas in August, for sure!

I'll bet the colors are even more stunning in person.

Ken the closed length is 3 1/8", open length 5 1/2"
Ken.

Look at what showed up in the mail the other day!

Thought I'd throw up a quick pic of one nearly finished, a bit of cleanup left
3 3/4" closed. The old Ideal junker Rc'ed better (higher 61-62) than any oldie
I've done a hardness test to date. 9/16" total thickness. NFS Ken.

Looking good Ken, cant wait to see this one finished. Any chance it will be hanging around a bit before it heads out to its new home?

This coming week is beyond hectic for me, no guarantees on how long it will be around, the
collector is local. Ken.

Finally got a chance to finish this one. I opted for the pen blade instead of a punch
blade as per the original. I did leave out the bail that was on the original. Cool how on
the opposing cut swedges the blade can actually touch in closing without leaving a
mark on the blade. Just a few too many blades for myself. 600 grit disc finish all blades.
Ats-34, both cut and drawn swedges. Integral liners bolsters.
Comments welcome.

Love the bolsters, just enough texture to help secure my grip. Fit and finish are top-notch, pull is perfect.

There's just something about a swayback that trips my trigger ... the curves ... the wharncliff ... like an eagles claw it works well for many cutting tasks.

Thanks to my friend Gus for the recommendation and a HUGE thanks to Ken for making such a fine knife for me.

That Swayback is a knockout, John! Great images too!

Thanks for the pics of the swayback John wish I could do pics like that. Couple of quick pics
of two white ones. Both ats-34, integral on the barlow, toothpick with my recent hand filed
parser of a cross shield. Alternative ivory on the barlow, White linen on the toothpick. Comments
welcome, NFS. Take a look. Ken.
