Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

I can't wait to see this one finished, Ken.

Had a chance to finish the stockman this evening. This is my first stock knife in stag:o. I was thinking about my past stock knives and the best I can recollect is
3 in Bone
1 in MOP
2 Shadow yellow Micarta
3 in G10 and or Micarta
1 in stag

3 3/4
CPM154cm
Coined inner center liner
This one comes in right at 3oz.

Love the little details of that knife Mr. Erickson. The file work on the inside, the swedging and how nice and low that sheepsfoot sits. I would be proud to have that in my pocket any day:thumbup: But that is just more of the same from you. Thanks for giving us the final look at it.

Sweet stockman Ken-the stag looks great, so does the coined liner-nice touch!!!

Coined liners, you learn something new everyday :) A search brought me to a tutorial writen by Mr Erickson showing how he coins the liner. Even more impressed now.

Real nice one, Ken!
Who says a sheepfoot blade has to stick way up above the others??
Nicely engineered!!

Ken,

This is becoming repetitive beautiful job as usual. Love the stag, I can't decide which I like more stag or ivory, but I am glad I have a choice.

Thank you so much for the very kind comments on this knife guys!

I know that there is a place, and some folks prefer a high riding sheepsfoot blade. I personally like this configuration with the sheepsfoots spine being the same level as the spine on the master. Other folks(;)) like this same setup but prefer the clip on the master running further back allowing a bit of the sheepsfoot to be visible from the mark side.

I also did a recount in my head on the stock knives and have to add two in bone. I forgot the five blade bone that Campbell has, and the rounded end California clip bone that Steven has in SA.

5 in Bone
1 in MOP
2 Shadow yellow Micarta
3 in G10 and or Micarta
1 in stag

There maybe more but this is the first in stag.

...Great looking knife, Ken!

Campbell,
Thanks for posting a picture if your 5 blade stockman. I cant believe I forgot it in my first count. Seems I sanded for ever on that knife!

I too am curious on the weight. That one was made before Elliott got tired of me not knowing how heavy my knives were and sent me a scale, LOL.
The stag stockman is pretty stout and comes in right at 3oz.

Man I love how that stag is so nice and thin with all the bark. Just awesome Ken!

Thanks Jared,

Keeping the stag thin and retaining the bark is really a challenge with the stag available to makers today. So many times you will see a knife with great stag, only then to see a top down view and see how thick the stag gets in the center of the knife. This one worked out really nice.

The stag is incredible Ken.

3 oz. is okay, but I think any more than that would be a little much for EDC.
