Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

I also think that was a good call Ken. I think it gives it a cleaner look with a little more reinforcement but still has a very vintage look to it. And the stag looks fantastic as does that nice crisp swedge!

I think that improves the knife on multiple levels, Ken. Good idea and well executed.

Ken, I'm sure your first pivot pin would have lasted forever. The larger flush pin does add something, at least to the aesthetics. My opinion of course. I love nice stag in a shadow pattern. I could carry that one forever.:thumbup:

I definitely prefer the change! Even if it is illusory, it inspires more confidence, and provides a more meaningful connection between animal and mineral!

I agree with everyone else Ken- it gives the knife a cleaner look without taking anything away from the stag!!!

+1, I think it looks better with a slightly larger pin.

It just goes to show you, that the finest of details separates the good from the great!!
And this knife is Great!!

This is the first of a two set knife.
Charlie(waynorth) had asked me to build two version of the Navy knife. He sent me two really nice examples both in bone. Originally he asked if I could build one with bone and the other with ebony. After giving it some thought I approached Charlie and asked, what if we built one in bone and the other a fantasy piece called the "officers model". He agreed and here are the results of that knife. I still have to build the bone with bail model yet.

I am sorry that the pictures do not convey just how nice the pearl is. I am not able, with my photo skills, able to capture the iridescence and colors.
The items that made this knife a "fancy" version are
Cap bolsters
Threaded bolsters
Extension spring for manicure blade
Pearl covers
Shield
Coined center liner
Bail delete
1500 grit hand rubbed finish on blades.

Blades and springs D2

Another great collaboration. Congrats to you both.

A few more shots on a different back round. I played around a bit on the one pile side picture in PS to try and bring out the colors of the pearl.
