Ken Onion joined forces with CRKT

Condition1, emotions over the Internet are hard to interpret. Though you may have meant it in one way, through the pipes of the Internet, when only words are read and not inflection of voice, whoever infracted you could have read and interpreted a completely different attitude from your post.
Sorry but I would try to explain your case to a mod if it matters that much to
you

i personally (don't flame me) doubt US made will be any better than foreign made. It's just a matter of quality. just take a comparison of American VS Japanese cars.

Like I said earlier in this thread , I am working with CRKT because Doug and Rod are my friends and they asked. CRKT will be making a few of my knives . As for your question about my commitment , well I'm a package deal. I have a reputation for shoving my way into the company I'm working with and making sure my products are made correctly. I have worked way to hard and way to long to have a company destroy my reputation due to quality control problems. I try to look at every knife that leaves the factory as a chance to impress and satisfy one customer. 1000 Knives =1000 customers and 1000 chances to leave a good impression. This has been my philosophy since I built my first knife 18 years ago and it works. As a knife junky myself I also understand what the majority of knife enthusiasts are looking for and try to instill the importance of attention to detail.
No , I am not exclusive to anyone . I'm not trying to compete with anyone . I believe there is room for all of us in this industry I just want to make the best knives I can for the best prices I can and make as many people happy as I can and If I can keep designing the things you guys like, and you keep buying things I make well , I guess I won't need to pursue a change in career and should maybe put that gig as an underwear model on the side for now and stay focused .

Ken your knives ROCK man! Keep up the awesome work:thumbup:

Thanks Daniel, I remember someone mentioning it was made in Taiwan, I just couldn't see it from the photos.

I found my answer. Just received a PM from a CRKT Ripple owner that stated there isn't a country marking on the blade, handle or box.

I would have thought if it was Taiwan, it would be marked as such. With no marking, it's possible it could be made in any podunk mainland Chinese factory.

HUH? I hope I'm reading this wrong because this feels kinda like a kick in the nuts to me .

There was nothing sarcastic about that post in the least. It was my apology to J.Curd and a sign that I was eating crow on this one and with a stern correction by Ken Onion on an error I made concerning his contract with Kershaw. This thread was a disaster for me and J.Curd could have let me have it with everything he had. He could have humiliated further than I had already been. He did not and he (J.Curd) took the high road. A classy move. One that I can learn from.

I thanked him for that and exited the thread, pronto.

For this I received a 10 point Infraction for trolling????

Is it better for me to run away from my bad behavior and not be a man about it. I’m a flawed individual (just as we all are.) I’m hoping this infraction was in error. If not an error is shows a clear sign that it best not to stand up and apologize for your bad behavior.

In a time when it’s in fashion to blame others, blame anyone for your bad behavior as long as you don’t blame yourself. I would think that my attitude and that this post in particular would be a refreshing change.

It wasn't meant to be stern buddy , I just wanted to nip it in the bud early before folks started thinkin it was fact. There are an amazing amount of rumors flying around and I didn't want another one started.I don't fault you , you were probably repeating something you heard somewhere. No hard feelings here.

Got one in the shop on friday, awesome! Feels like a midtech all the way and I'm no fan of CRKT but damn!!! I would have bought it already but it's combo edge which means chisel ground, Im left handed=no go.

Im seriously digging how thin it is combined with a butter smooth opening. A whole lot of work went into that clip, everyone who holds one will be very surprised.

Great design Ken

Not on the knife but a FAT Product of Taiwan on the box, unless for some reason only some are so marked.

Not bustin' your balls Ken. I love your stuff (still hoping for a Taboo one of these days) and I'd still like the chance to meet you the next time I'm in Hawaii! I just found it interesting that, based on the above comment, there is no mention of country of origin on the knife or package.

By law if a product is not made in the USA it is required to say where it is made. Prototypes are not always marked.

Ken leaves today for Asia so he will be where the knives are being made for a week.

Not yet.

I read somewhere that AG Russell bought all of the first couple of runs.

I'm assuming what you said is correct.
So Ken, where are these made? It's not printed on the blade as far as I've seen, so can we assume they are American made? Or are you just neglecting to putting the manufacture location on the blade for asthetic reasons?
After reading about this it makes me curious as to why there's no manufacture location, because I'd much rather have confirmation it's made in Taiwan, as far as we know it could be made anywhere overseas until we can get a confirmation from a primary source.

Maybe I'm over analyzing it but my analytical tendencies have me curious.

ABA, according to a post, by someone familiar with this project, on another forum it sounds like the CRKT Ripples are being made in China, even though A.G. Russell's ad copy (Link) states that Taiwan is the country of origin.

Not that it matters to me one way or another, after all, the biggest public works project in California history is a steel self-anchored suspension bridge being fabricated in Shanghai.

An IKBS flipper pocket knife should be easy by comparison. :D

Thanks Ken.

It was like getting kicked in the teeth from someone you looked up to.

Thanks for your work with the CBP legislation. I worked hard on that and KnifeRights.org gave you a lot of credit for the victory.
