Too funny. I'll have to ask my father for some stories. He spent some time on the USS DDR Frank Knox. He has some great stories. :p

The old salts were full of them:

"Bring me 50 feet of shoreline."

"Fetch me a bucket of steam."

"Go feed the shaft seals."

"Go ask the Fireman of the Watch for a BT punch."

The last one could hurt. A BT was a Boiler Technician and the BT punch was just that: The FotW would punch you.

Don't even ask about the Shellback ceremony.

I acually fell for the "Snipe hunting" when I was a kid:o
They took me and two others all the way around the block with us holding bags down in the ditch as we went. I was really excited thinking I was going to catch a snipe. Then we did it to the younger kids a year later.


BG, I hope your not mad:D Just a joke they do here often, and I had to do it after the "I should watch more TV, like MM" comment the other day. Then today with you thinking I didn't know what the Busse Addiction was:D

When I was younger and just joined the marines I got the usual can you get me a tin of 'tartan paint' and a 'long stand' from the older guys. Their favorite was always sending new guys for a Henlay. After 2hrs of asking about the base I was sent to the galley and given an egg.
Needles to say I have since used all these on any friends, family or other suitable victims I can.
Good to hear it happens the world over, I thought of it as a passage of rights (of sorts lol).

Hey Ken,

snipe hunting must be a GA thing. I grew up in Jackson county, GA. between lake lanier and Athens.

Dad pulled this on me and my friends in 5th grade or so. Just after we went to see American werewolf in London. Well, we left movie early when nurse came out naked....another story. We were young.

Anyway, he finally got us to believe him and lviiving on a farm we grabbed our sacks and took off.

Then Dad proceeds to leave the six of us for what seemed like forever. Went out and started howling like a werewolf......yeah the moon was full too.

Yeah he comes flying thruogh the pasture in old 65 chevy-"The Green Machine".

Well he never slowed down the 6 of us jumped off terrace into that truck and have never been the same since.

ROTFLMAO!!

Kinda like blood grooves.....SCARRED FOR LIFE!!

On a serious note - Ken is dependable. He is from North Georgia and lives by a code of honor (like Lucky on KOTH). The Code would never allow him to do anything but evaluate the knife and return it to you. So, BG, it's your call. You simply cannot lose no matter what you decide to do.

BG, ignore everything else in this thread and send me the knife. I have a stripped SW and can compare the two.

Seriously though, just busting your ****** Blood Grooves. Most everybody here can probably be trusted(to an extent). If your really worried about it there are some very knowledgable guys here who can help you out.
