Kerry Hampton Knives

Kerry's not only a heck of a guy but a heck of a fine maker as well. He's come a long way in a very short time. And the fact is, despite having a great teacher, if he didn't have that something special to begin with, he couldn't make the knives he does. I'm just sayin'...

Agreed. Can you believe that Kerry's been only making folders for a couple of years? Incredible...

You summed it up quite perfectly here Elliot, and the exact same way I feel!

I have been purchasing hand made folders from knife makers building from scratch since the 1980's and cannot remember anyone that even comes close to Kerry with his attention to detail and his constant focus on you(the customer) as though you are his only project, which obviously you are not.. I believe that is called... The Right Stuff!..

You got to love(not gay luv mind you--but manly slipjoint knife love:D) the guy. :D

As a friend of Kerry's and an owner and admirer of his work, I'm happy to report (and know that Kerry will agree) that there are several excellent makers of whom the same can be said. Some of these very same are being discussed on this forum in a variety of threads as we speak (or type as the case may be).

Yes perhaps this is true too. I reckon you and others will have to be the judge of that and tell those tales since I can only speak to the experiences I have had. I know Kerry is in this top shelf category and that is for sure.

I reckon so. (And hopefully you'll have the opportunity to find out for yourself.) But we'll agree to agree about Kerry and his work. I'm looking forward to a little project we've had in the works for some time. (No details forthcoming though. Hate to ruin the surprise. ;))

An "opportunity to find out for myself", :grumpy: Yea well, that is not likely anytime soon $$$-wise unfortunately.. But on the brighter side I have been on Kerry's list again since 3/09. :) ...

Whoaa, hold on a minute, you've got another "little project" in the works with him?!. Now you have peeked my curiosity once again,, you BIG tease.. :D :D.. I'll be looking forward to seeing that one here then. You guys do great stuff together ;) :p

Oh, suffice it to say that this one goes back a while and Kerry and I have discussed it off and on for some time including at the Blade Show. I will say this (and no more) about it Anthony...I can virtually guarantee that it'll be something that you will like.

It seems Kerry has stuff working all over the place. :)

Kerry and I also have something in the works that might give you the opportunity to do some CE/CF'in. I can say no more as he asked me not to...of course it's killing me but such is life. :)

While in Atlanta last week for the Blade show, Kerry was blinded by a bolt of inspiration during an evening on the town. I can't say much more about how this will relate to our new collaborative knife project other than that I will pony up when the time comes and just the thought of it makes me turn a shade pink.

Honestly,I'm usually up on this stuff, but everyone has been posting so much post Blade action,I'm trying to keep up here :D

So lemme ask, does the little guy take care of the sub 3.5" knives in whole ?,or does he just grind the secondary pen blades on those swayback jack's ?

TIA :D,
