Thanks, folks, for all the positive comments. The nice summer weather really cuts into my knifemakin gumption...but, I was able to force this one out. The blade and spring on the moose guy has been HT'd and ground for a while. Duckman sent me the moose antler a long while back and it's probably around 100yo stuff. Not as dense as sambar stag but certainly has a lot of character.

Kerry,

Very nice clean work! Was working with moose much different than Sanbar stag?

Congrats to you and Duckman !

I really like that blade shape with the big swedge on it. The moose looks great.

Agreeing with Mike here, really like your blade on this one. Plus, the antler really looks good. Nice BP! It makes me smile a little more than Mike, though.

Things will get better, Mike, just hang on! ;) :D

Ken...it's not hard to find something flat enough to use on a folder BUT the flattest stuff has a very thin hard outer layer. There is more pith in moose antler. The better material is in the trunk just above the crown but then you are battling that outer radius, and of the moose antler I have seen, the trunk is always round. It doesn't have the flat spots in it like a lot of sambar does. There certainly is a lot of material to use in a moose antler because they are HUUUUUGE!

Except my thoughts were shaped more like an ice cold beer!:D

Kerry,

I think its nice to see a pattern like this in a shadow. Thinking outside the box is always good. I bet with low weight and rounded like it is, it will carry like a much smaller knife. Oh yeah, very nicely done!

Do you have the weight of this one?
