Kershaw 1595 G10 Tactical Speed Bump New Model Bump?

Thanks for the tip. New to Kershaw. The skyline thread hooked me. Now I have a ZT0500 on the way.
0777, 0560 and 0561 on pre order. and wishing I could find an 0551.

This may not be good for the wallet.

Well, you definitely do not want to miss this one. The studlock Bumps are one of Ken Onions greatest designs. I think the only significant complaint would be the lack of other clip mounting options.
The lock is very strong and is totally ambidextrous. There is only one spring in the lock which is exposed and easily inspected, if the spring were to fail (which I've never seen), you could easily wedge a twig or something in behind the stud. Any force trying to close the blade actually holds the stud in place, meaning the spring that holds the tension on the thumb stud doesn't need to be very strong.
When closing the blade, your fingers never need to get between the handle and the edge to unlock it.
The blade shape gets you the benefits of a wharncliffe and a recurve. Additionally the angle of the straight section of blade in relationship to the handle keeps your knuckles away from the surface you are cutting on.

I could go on and on.

Even without considering what I've already said, what other knives are out there for $40 with 3D machined G10 handles? Edit: As T Schloz pointed out the handles are flat G10.

Build and shape wise many liken it to a slimmer 0200.

From what I can tell looking at the pictures on Amazon, it looks like the handles are not 3D G-10. They appear to be the "standard" flat G-10. This isn't a problem for me, as I like the slimmer profile.

Good catch, I hadn't noticed that. It'll be interesting to compare them to the aluminum Speed Bumps. Its nice that they stuck with the black clips though.
Interesting that the G10 is flat, guess there weren't any leftover 3D handles. I don't recall any previous flat G10 handles on any Bump varieties, so it is even more amazing that they are selling for only $40, since they had to make the handle slabs.

Bought one, don't need a new knife, but that is just way too good of a deal to pass up!

Did some searching, and I'm wondering if I should inquire about sending this knife off to STR or someone else who offers similar services to get this knife modified for tip up carry.

I was thinking the same thing, and bought two. Now I'll have Spec Bump, Spec Bump with stone washed blade, and 2 Speedy Spec Bumps. :D

A benefit to the flat handles is that it will be much easier to come up with other clip mounting options than it was on the 3D G10.

Would you recommend anyone in particular? I'm almost tempted to give it a shot myself but I'd have to see about getting a ZT style pocket clip from Kershaw to put on it.

If you are going to try pimping out a knife yourself, a $40 one seems like a relatively safe place to start.

I just noticed from the Amazon pics there is no safety. Something else that will make this knife much easier to customize.

This will be my first Bump, and if it's going to be a somewhat limited run I'm not sure if I should mod it or not. We'll see if I like it when I get it and I guess I'll make my decision then.

I had my Spec-Bump converted to tip up using a ZT clip by STR. I love it!

Got mine. Been looking it over. Nice blade design. If I can post pics I'll do a little review. Not bad for the price at all.

Just some friendly advice guys, seeing as how I am the adviser and all, if you want one of these buy it now because they will be gone in a flash, just so you know how good the deal is, I bought 50 from Amazon myself and in a couple of months they will be on my website. I have already received them and they are very nice, do not pass on this, I won't be selling them for $39.95, ha. so, the adviser has spoken.

Out of curiosity, what would you value these knives at Dave?

That idea crossed my mind too, Dave...:D

I only ended up only buying 2, one to keep and one to gift, or maybe mod, or both, or neither. I bought 2. :D
