Kershaw 1630TIZDP

My preference would be for the Cyclone, Ti frame, ZDP blade.
It's just a great combination.

I would have to say Ti frame lock and zdp, speedsafe.

No compromises please. I would love a high end speedsafe that i can open with my retarded thumbs that isnt afflicted with a less useful and difficult to sharpen blade shapes like the bump. The only reason I havent ordered a ZDP leek is because i really wanted these features in a larger rougher use tool. Sounds like this fits the bill.

Please make this knife!

Cyclone, Ti Framelock, ZDP-189 Steel, SpeedSafe On/Off, MSRP $240

I'm confused on what is more desirable, is it the Ti Framelock, the ZDP-189 steel, or the combo of both?

Thanks again everyone.

Thomas W,

I think the Sandvik steel (on the current Cyclone) is fine for the casual user anyway, so let's swing for the fences on this Ultimate Cyclone for us Knife Fanatics! I say ZDP Blade Steel and any material FRAME-Lock. To me, the blade material is more important than handle material, as long as it is a frame lock. Speedsafe is a must! On/Off irrelevant to me.

p.s Still no Flipper on the Blur? I would buy the Blur with an aluminum foil blade if it had a flipper!!

Maybe I should see what I can whip up in the garage... ;)

Blade steel isn't as important to me. Any decent steel with a good heat treat is fine for me. I do like framelocks though. I'd say do the Cyclone in the Ti framelock with either blade steel. I hope I can save the money in time. Whether I buy it depends on my budget (still in school).

The current Cyclone has a VERY decent steel already, Sandvik 13C26. The Liner lock is also very tight and strong. If Blade steel isn't as important, wait until the 1630TiZDP comes out, buy it, swap out the ZDP with Sandik blade, then send me the ZDP blade with your Alum handles! Win-Win:D

Seriously, the current Cyclone just came out and is a very underrated knife. Most will never need more from a knife. If the NEW Cyclone is going to be a limited run, let's not make compromises! Best handle=Titanium (don't really know why it's considered the best) Best Blade=ZDP Best Lock=Frame

No matter what, we are lucky to have this much influence on such a great company:thumbup:

Bayou Blaster: I am a college student, just moved into a new place and I'm pretty broke but I have $160 (if i need more i'll donate some blood :D ) in my fire safe that i have been holding onto for just such a knife to come along. If kershaw doesn't make this knife I'm afraid i might have to spend the money on groceries or new clothes. eek

Here's a pint of blood for No Compromises!

We are going to make a few proto's and see how they turn out. Hopefully one will stand out.

Looking forward to it, TW. I'm still hoping for the G10 but, honestly, I think I'll buy either one. I like my 13c26 Cyclone a lot!

I just bought a 1660TIZDP even if I thought it was a little small for a knife, I usually dont buy under 8.5cm, a TIZDP cyclone would be a dream for me even if the price will be quite a problem for me, I can eat more pasta than meat for some month to get it, after all it's only about my health :D

Well myself I've become quite taken with the ZDP blades, here is one I just picked up but may find hard to use hard ;)
The cutting action is pretty aggressive with these blade, this William Henry
Attache has quite a thin blade to begin with and they say it's rockwells out
at RC 67, quite hard!

if you have high speed internet, here is a larger image of the above,

Love the idea of a high end cyclone, though I would prefer a high end Junk Yard Dawg with speed-safe.

I have heard several stories about different ZDP knives chipping or getting the tips broken off. Since the Cyclone is more of a user knife as opposed to the ZDP leek, would the blade be a bit less brittle with an RC of say 62-65 as opposed to 66 or 67? Or will the cyclone blade be thick enough by itself for it to be a hard use knife without worrying about chipping or breaking tips?
