Congrats on the score. Your Needs Work is a great folder.

I was in awe hovering over two full trays of ZT561s, $115, try and find the blem. I already own a 561 blem (an EDC for a year) plus a non-blem 561. I stood there as if visions of sugar plums were dancing in my head flipping one from the tray open and closed. What marvels these knives are. One of the very finest knives I have ever owned. Stunning achievement in the production knife category and difficult for me to even imagine a better folder.

Thanks for sharing the experience Steve. I for one had not seen this level of detail on the KFS before, but it is definitely something on my to do list. One of these years I'll make it up to Oh Ree Gone to visit some friends and see if I am lucky with my timing. I just want to meet Thomas, Jim, Jen, and the rest of the crew, and of course walk out with some of that fine loot and an empty wallet. ;)

You are welcome. Entirely my pleasure. I love this stuff.

You betcha come to Oregon and please don't hesitate to look me up. I have one word for you: McMenamins. I'm within 5-6 miles of Kershaw out in the sticks with the rest of the hicks: Saturday was the annual one-day mini-meet in Eugene, OR (a couple hours South of Kershaw) for OKCA (missed it again due to work and that's at least 5 years in a row! but the regular annual meet is in mid-April and not to be missed) then the three-day Kershaw Factory Sale. This time of year gives two good options for cutlery.

I didn't get the opportunity to talk with Thomas this year and only noticed him briefly in the distance watching over the factory floor in his workman's apron. Next time, maybe, as he is always on task. A brilliant and serious conversationalist accomplished beyond his years and someone to relish meeting.

here is my 2013 Kershaw Warehouse sale purchase. Its my first ZT and for sure won't be the last as long as I live in the Portland area. Judging by the traffic in this thread the "blems" aren't a huge concern. The only thing I can find with a blem on my ZT is a small scratch on the pocket clip.

Also anyone interested in a ZT 0350 with the billet aluminum scales? I guess they released the brown and OD green as a limited release but didn't release the black ones. My buddy got one as a part of one of the Magical boxes. Its black scales with a BRN marking on the blade. I have access to it just wondering if its worth the snag from him.

If your buddy got a 0350BRN then it's a 0350BRN. To my knowledge there were no specific "black" anodized models. Anodizing color varied greatly in the green and brown models. No matter what light I hold my brown under, it appears black. So in other words it's nothing special but any 0350 for the right price is a good snag. :)

Its defiantely black. He went back on Sunday and talked to a couple of guys there and they told him that they didn't release the blacks...Hmmmm Maybe that is the "blem" I might just buy it from him and post some pics of it in the future.

Another note about the blems. Both the wife and I picked up XXXX'd knives and there is not visible issue with hers at all. I think the issue with mine was some rub marks on the blade and maybe an asymmetrical edge? Very nit picky though but it goes to show their QC is on point.
Man, I did see a picture of the ZT0801CF on the back wall behind the checkers. I don't know what it was about and didn't ask but I'd love to know more!

The 0801CF is an upcoming sprint run of the standard 0801. The handle machining is different and it features that bronze coating. I'm not sure what material that coating is though. The steel should also be M390 instead of the regular Elmax IIRC. It makes an excellent production knife into something even more special.

Sorry, I know about the 0801CF but my knife nerd thinks it's interesting a picture of it was stapled to the wall!

Lots of great pics of great knives. Thanks to everyone for sharing. Would have loved to pick how ZT0780. One of my big regrets was not buying one when I had the chance!

From what I was told by the KAI employee, the anodizing is the blem. When I was there on Saturday, the variety of brown hues was kinda nice but wasn't uniform enough to sell as the 0350BRN. I think that's a good blem to have: perfectly good functionality with a unique color. The only downer would be the lack of warranty... but it's like getting a custom 0350 without having to do anything!

Ha, oops, sorry. I'm sure there are knife nuts out there who have the 0801CF stapled to their walls.

Someone posted on page 1 there were 0801BW knives at sale......that got my hopes up!!!

Sorry I was unclear. The only blackwash knife I remember seeing was the zt 0300. I have never heard of a blackwash zt 0801.

I was just saying that there were regular zt 801 factory seconds there. I think they were about $99.

What did you think of the prices? It seems like this year had better deals compared to last. I also think there was more selection this year too.

I told him about your post about your brown handle being really dark and I gotta say the longer we looked at that knife the browner it got. I don't know if its our minds messing with us or not. I tend to agree with you I like the fact that its a bit different. The warranty doesn't bother me much these knifes seem to be built soild. I think I'm going to buy the knife from him after my Christmas shopping is done for the family.

The two Factory Sale Kershaw hats were left out of the previous photos so here they are now. The hats are sized so you buy the one that fits your head. Those are both L/XL for my virtual planetoid noggin. $5 each so I got both to make the purchasing decision easier. A Kershaw Christmas, like many in this neck of the woods, and all is well.

Thank you everyone for posting to this thread. It is really fun for me to see others enjoying the local celebrity knife manufacturer who I've admired and relished for a great many years. WTG Kershaw and wtg members.

Off topic: BTW, that is me in the photo on upper right hanging photo with my head on my older Sister's shoulder. I remember the taking of that photo and the onerous task of not only smiling but of touching my Sister with my head at the same time. Man was I uncooperative but that pic doesn't even hint at that.

Of everything there Id get that hat . Darn I envy you! Ive got a similar sized melon. Shared by my cute newborn. ( wife not as happy) lol.
