Just got one yestarday from NG.

It is in same underpriced category as Storm and Cyclone, but looking much better. Cyclone and Storm are nicelooking knives but this one just beautiful:

It has unusual for this price range G10 scales and screw mount.

Thanks, Vassili.

I would like to have one, but....I know they are trying to keep the cost down
but why don't they give you the option of tip up carry? Is there something in the design that makes it impossible? Also, why the MTech looking clip? I think
a more discreet clip would be more appropriate(like the Benchmade clip, my favorite). Or at least give you the option of a better clip. This is the only problem I have with my Storm II also. It's a great knife but the clip is way to
visible and gaudy looking but at least the Storm has the option to reverse the clip. The Storm II is an awesome knife, by the way.

Despite the criticism, I will buy one because I think Kershaw makes an
awesome knife for the money. I believe I would like the handle shape also.
Hopefully I can handle one soon...:D

The knife is designed by a world famous knife maker, not kershaw. Why would a discrete clip be better? I like the fact the clip looks good with the knife and is not some small unmatching piece of metal. I never carry illegal so it doesnt matter to me if people see that I have a knife.

How thick are the liners? Are they like the Whirlwinds or the Boas, flimsey or sturdy? The G10 rivet design is sweeeeeeeeeetness. :thumbup:

Can you post a side view of the liner to blade fit, I avoid flimsey liner folders.

Nice looking knife for sure. I'm curious about the opening, is it assisted? The Kershaw site just describes it as 'popping' open once enough pressure is built up with the index finger. How's the quality of the G10 scales? They look great in grey. What do you think of the Sandvik? I'll probably try and buy one if the wife doesn't notice. I'd have to second yerscattergun on the pocket clip though. I wonder why Kershaw decided on such a large clip? Congrats on the purchase! Looks like a winner in terms of bang for the buck.

It is no AO, And only option to open - flipper. I hope Kershaw will make some kind of grrove on the blade to use for opening with thumb. Innertional opening will not work if you will tighten pivot which may be nessesary for different reasons.

I also think that more option for clip attachment will be better and hole for lainyard also be good. I amd pretty happy with clip - it is very comfortable to hold.

Also I think it will benefit from big choil it will be possible to put index finger on it - there is a lot of space over there.

May be Kershaw may adjust this thing before main run (this is first run).

But overall this is great knife! And I just love it!

Length 3 3/4" (94 mm)
Width 1 3/16" (31 mm)
Thickness 1/8" (3 mm)
Edge 3/128"
Weight 5.78 oz (164.6g)

Thanks, Vassili.

nice pics!
could you please post some comparison shots? (side by side with some basic folders: Millie, Griptillian, etc)

Yeah they are BEEFY! I was surprised to see how thick they are, I was expecting thin liners.

Great looking knife!
And thanks for the pictures.

I think I'm going to have to get one.

I told Tim Galyean in private that I thought it was a super value and one that would be a hard act to follow if he keeps this up. For the money this knife costs it offers the user a lot more bang for the buck than just about any other model I've had the opportunity to look at in productions in recent years.

I've already had a few guys contact me about flipping a clip after making a custom for it, and also had a few inquiring about installing a thumb stud on it and the smaller JYD as well as the Groove. Have yet to see any though.

Personally I think they should have thumb studs on them but for the money you can't complain. These are some very smooth well made folders with a sturdy stainless liner and very stout lock. The lock on mine measures .070 thick. Thats stout in titanium but in stainless? Heck man, this .070 stainless lock will not only wear better than titanium at the interface but its stronger than a .125 ti lock in all likelihood and at the least its equal in strength.

Making a new custom low rider pocket clip and flipping it to tip up carry on mine was no big deal.

No the clip is for tip down only and only for right hand carry from the factory.

Really nice pictures!

That grey G-10 looks really, really good... especially with the embellishments. I wish more manufacturers would use colored G-10 like that. What are the washers in this?

That pocket clip is heinous, though.

1/16" is thickness of liner lock. It is pretty solid.

Sharpness out of the box results on cutting thread test:

60 +
70 ++
80 ++++++
90 +++++++
100 ++++
110
120 +

so Median on 21 tests is 90 gramm close to 80 which is pretty good results. It is little bit better then I had on Fallkniven - 90 in the middle and Buck CPM 154 - 110, but Spyderco BG42 shouws 60 and Microteck Currahee 60 close to 50.

Thanks, Vassili.

Do I see in some of those pics above that the liners are thick enough to require the same kind of thinning at the bend point that a framelock does? WOW!!!!!!!!!!
