Kershaw JunkYard Dog II pics

It is my turn to make lanyard hole...

I thought to keep spacer and just make hole through the handle. Wondering where to make it I disassemble the knife:

As you may see stopper for blade is hidden inside it.

After observe this I decided to make a little hole at the end of the handle near last screw. Here it is:

It is a small hole but wide enough to hold my faivorite leather lace.

Thanks, Vassili.

Thanks Vassili, that looks like the perfect place and very nice work on your part.
I will probably do the same to mine. :)

What is the diameter of your lanyard hole Vassili? Can you fit paracord in it? I can't really see the hole itself for the cord in the way.

Just curious

It is really tiny - 1/8" by 1/16". It is exactely for 1/8" leather lace. Paracord will not fit I think.
I did it with Dremel diamond bits, weel first and then needle-like conical bit. Liners are very tough - I was not able to drill it with my regular drill bits (some generic bits).

Thanks, Vassili.

Yes the stop pin and detent ball both are uniquely positioned on these. I noticed when handling the JYD folders and the Needs Work folder that its the same way also. The most amazing thing to me about the JYD, Groove, and Williams knives are the prices. How Kershaw pulled this off is an amazing thing for end line users to appreciate. For the quality of the workmanship, smoothness of the operation of the pivots, and the materials to make them I don't anyone would have been saying much negative about them if they were $100 or more each but at $36 plus shipping for a JYD and about $50 for a Groove or JYDII they have to be one of the best deals in knives going at this time.

Yes, and this is even more important because it proves that in US you can make affordable and of course high quality products! I think that this concept of producing everything abroad is just easy excuse for someone who do not want work himself and better give up US jobs an know-how. It is just much easy to send check someone else then maintain modern manufacturing here.

Thanks, Vassili.

I consider the JYD2 a large folder - it certainly dwarfs the Kershaw Leek, and is noticably and substantially heftier/heavier.

The JYD2 weighs in at 5.2oz (147g), compared to the Leek's 3.1oz (88g), and a typical Victorinox 91mm SAK (Spartan) 2.1oz (60g).

Another modification:

Junkyard Dog III fixed blade:

Pretty, cool! I made it in graphic editor, of course. But serioucely I think Kershaw should consider making this, original design is pretty cool and will work perfectly for many variations like this one where I just scale blade a bit.

Thanks, Vassili.

I am all for that idea. Not only do I think that the JYD's profile would translate well to fixed blade, but I've been dying to get my hands on a fixed blade made with Sandvik 13C26 to see how it would stand up to that kind of hard use.

And final modification - thing which helps to open knife (have no idea how you call it).

I even manage not to damage Kershaw logo too much (sorry Kershaw). I think if to do this more accurately it is possible to make without touching logo.

I like this better - it reminds me knives of my chieldhood, they all have this thing and we manage to open it with one hand without modern holes or tumbstuds.

I think now I have all what I want from it and not I desier JunkYard Dog III - bigger then this one and JDIV - fixedblade and JDII with ZDP189 etc....

This is so far best design of the year and excellent start for Tim! Most beautiful knife among new models.

Thanks, Vassili.

Good job on those mods guys.

Vassili , what you mean is called a " nail nick " , like on slipjoints.
