Kershaw Junkyard Dog II - Titanium Handle and SG2 Blade - 1725SG2

The one with the Air Force marking on the 410 stainless steel handle has a composite blade of 14C28N and CPM-D2.

The SS version was small and has the Air Force markings. It's called just Junkyard Dawg. I believe the steel on these was actually 13c26n. There is the Junkyard Dawg II which was available in a few variations. There are two different Composite versions that use CPM-D2 for the edge. There is a grey G10 and black G10 version with what I believe was 13c26n. Finally, there was the Ti handle version with the laminated SG2 blade.

I think those are all the variations.

"This Kershaw JUNKYARD DOG II - KN-K1725" from what I can tell looks just like the Titanium version?

I tried a google search but cannot find anymore info on it.

Any idea's on what it is and how much it is worth?

Sorry .. I'm kind of slow here today and the listing picture looks allot like the SS version without the army symbol.

I now finally see it is a G10 liner lock.

Just Curious, Which model number would be the best to collect after the #1 version being the titanium version?

That is excluding the liner-locks and am only considering a frame-lock. No G10

I'm starting to conclude there is only one alternative and that's the one with the army symbol on it, smooth or serrated blade.

Thank Again

The Air Force one with Sandvic 13c26 blade and 410 steel handle goes for about $60 now. I think it's more a novelty than collectible.

I don't know about that. I have been looking for a decent priced 1720 to carry so...:indecisiveness:

I missed one a few months back due to a story my wife just HAD to tell me. I don't recall the story but I do remember missing the 1725blkst sniffle, sniffle :sorrow:

No sir, the original Kershaw JYD with SS handle and framelock is no novelty. It is a little package that fits well into hands large or small. A 3" blade of 13c26n that comes razor sharp out of the box. It's a tough little knife. I don't know why you would consider it a novelty. I gave one to my wife's cousin who was entering the Air Force. She still carries and uses it to this day. A collectible is only something you see fit to collect. To me, none of the regular production knives are collectible. To another person, they all may be collectible.

I wasn't putting down the Air Force versions as practical knives but we were talking in the context of which Junkyard Dog knives would be most desirable to collect if you can't find the most desirable one which in that context is 1725SG2.

In my honest opinion, as far as collecting goes, the only one worthy of collection is the Ti SG2 model. After that they are all pretty much regular production users.

I agree that the Ti SG2 (1725SG2) is the only Kershaw Junkyard Dog worth collecting.

They sold for $120 to $150 range in 2008. The last one sold on ebay for $295. It had a 2.2 composite not the SG2 blade. A NIB one sold on here in 2011 for $200.

My brand new Kershaw Junkyard Dog II 1725SG2 (Titanium Handle and SG2 Blade) will ship today! Priced less than the last one sold on eBay and more than the one sold on the Exchange in 2011. Just a regular retailer who had them in stock!

By the way, the one that sold on eBay in March 2013 wasn't really a true 1725SG2. The seller took the blade of the 1725CB and put it into the 1725SG2!

Correct me if I'm wrong...

The old Junkyard Dog I had the 1720 designation and the new Junkyard Dog II is 1725. The blade lengths in the old ones were 3 inches and the new ones I've seen listed anywhere from 3 5/8 to 3 3/4 inches. On the Kershaw website the 1725CB is listed with a blade length of 3 5/8 inches.

I'm really surprised that you found a new in box SG2 JYD from any retail store, that would be some seriously old stock. You will have to post up some pictures when it arrives.

Very curious myself as well. I had to document how I found them! I thought for sure it was a case of them not knowing they were out of stock. Pleasant surprise. Sometimes the journey trumps the destination.

It's shipping today. I'll inspect it and post pictures. Then, I'll PM back those who asked about the source in sequence.
